By Eric Baldwin: Former heavyweight world title challenger Kubrat Pulev (24-1, 13 KOs) defeated former WBC heavyweight title challenger Samuel Peter (36-5, 9 KOs) by a 4th round TKO to win the vacant WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title on Saturday night in a mismatch in front of 15,000 boxing fans at the Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The fight was stopped after round three after the badly out of shape looking Peter appeared to hurt his right arm while throwing a wild shot. Peter bent over the ropes after the round ended. He appeared to be in pain and was leaning towards his right side, as it to show that he had hurt his right arm. Moments later, the fight was halted by the referee.

It’s just as well. The fight was a mismatch, as Peter was slow, fat and missing badly with every punch he threw. It was target practice for the 6’4 ½” Pulev, who jabbed Peter nonstop in rounds one through three. It was too easy for Pulev.

Samuel Peter: I’m going to KO Kubrat Pulev

sam-peter

By Eric Baldwin: Former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter (36-5, 29 KOs) plans on knocking out 35-year-old Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev (23-1, 12 KOs) this Saturday night on December 3 to claim the vacant WBA Intercontinental Heavyweight title in their fight at the Arena Armee in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Pulev has been matched against the 36-year-old Peter rather than one of the top 15 contenders in the heavyweight division. The idea is that Pulev gets a win over a notable name from the past to keep in the hunt for a heavyweight title shot.

By Scott Gilfoid: The highly ranked #2 IBF, #3 WBC, #10 WBO, #11 WBA, heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev (23-1, 12 KOs) will be facing 36-year-old former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter (36-5, 29 KOs) in a scheduled 12 round fight this Saturday night on December 3 for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title at the Arena Armeec, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Samuel Peter was being considered for Luis Ortiz before Thompson stepped up

peter4542354By Allan Fox: Before 44-year-old Tony Thompson (40-6, 27 KOs) was found to face interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) on March 5, 35-year-old former WBC heavyweight champion Saul “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter (35-5, 28 KOs) was being considered as an opponent for the 36-year-old Ortiz in his fight on HBO Championship Boxing from the DC Armory, in Washington, District of Columbia.

Peter, who had twice lost to Wladimir Klitschko in the past, hasn’t fought since September 2014. Peter’s career is considered by many people to be pretty much over with. He still likely has good punching power though, and it would have been interesting to see how Ortiz would have dealt with Peter’s punching power.

“Considering who was available/willing, Thompson makes a lot of sense for Ortiz. He’s experienced, big, solid and is from DC, where fight is,” Dan Rafael said on his Twitter.
