By Eric Thomas: Bob Santos, the manager for lightweight Robert Guerrero, is hoping that if Guerrero can beat WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana next month on August 27th, it will lead to fights against either WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan or Floyd Mayweather Jr. It sounds a little farfetched to me, because both Khan and Mayweather are interested in taking on other big stars and Guerrero thus far isn’t anywhere close to being a big star.

Maidana would like to fight a rematch with WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan, who beat Maidana by a 12 round decision last December, but Khan isn’t too eager to make that fight happen. Maidana is Khan’s mandatory challenger. Maidana says that Khan is supposed to fight him in September otherwise he should give up his WBA belt.
