By William Mackay: Light welterweight contender Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) will be facing 37-year-old journeyman DeMarcus Corley (38-19-1, 22 KO’s) on May 5th instead of Julio Diaz, because Diaz reportedly is having problems with the weight and would likely not be able to make 140 for this fight. Diaz vs. McCloskey on 5/5: Can get Julio get a fair shake in Belfast?
By William Mackay: Former IBF lightweight champion Julio Diaz (38-7, 27 KO’s) gets to the next fighter that tries his hand at attempting to beat Ireland’s Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) on May 5th at the King’s Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Diaz, 32, is likely going to have to be especially impressive in this fight in order to walk out of the King’s Hall with the win, because we saw last September how hard it can be for someone to beat the 32-year-old McCloskey, #9 WBA, in Belfast.
Paul McCloskey to battle Julio Diaz on May 5th in Belfast
By William Mackay: Light welterweight contender Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) will be facing former IBF lightweight champion Julio Diaz (38-7, 27 KO’s) on May 5th at the Kings Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. McCloskey hopes to be back in the ring in February or March
By Sean McDaniel: Since successfully beating Breidis Prescott by a 12 round unanimous decision last September in a WBA light welterweight title eliminator bout in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) has kind of been the forgotten man in the division. The title fight that he had hoped would come with the Prescott victory has failed to materialize and it’s unclear when McCloskey will eventually get the title shot that he worked so hard to get.
