By Sean McDaniel: Light welterweight contender Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) was feeling no sympathy for Amir Khan’s latest complaints that he was judged unfairly in his 12 round decision loss to Lamont Peterson. Khan was docked two points in the fight for shoving Peterson and as it turns out that was enough to tip the close fight to Peterson.

Maidana vs. McCloskey fight negotiations not going well
By William Mackay: It looks like Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) is going to have to wait a little while longer before he gets a shot at fighting WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (31-2, 28 KO’s), as Maidana isn’t pleased with the offer for the fight. McCloskey and his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports, were hoping to fight Maidana in Ireland in February in front of a large crowd.

Last Weekend
The intriguing matchup between Irishman Paul McCloskey and Columbian puncher Breidis Prescott took place this weekend in Belfast.
After a harsh battle of words before the bout the two commenced in a grueling twelve round war for a crack at Marcos Maidana’s WBA “regular” title.
Prescott took control early using his long reach and powerful jab to his advantage. McCloskey who looked like a small boy in comparison just stood in the middle of the ring soaking up the punishment from his Columbian foe. The first half of the fight was all Prescott and he knocked the European champion down (although with his forearm) but after a stern talking to by his corner McCloskey came into the eighth round like a wild man. The shorter Irishman beat Prescott to the punch in many of the later rounds and when McCloskey’s confidence was up he looked world class.
Will McCloskey’s controversial win make it difficult to lure Maidana to Belfast?
Maidana: I’m willing to fight McCloskey next
By Scott Gilfoid: WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana congratulated Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) for beating Colombian Breidis Prescott (24-3, 19 KO’s) by a 12 round decision in their WBA light welterweight title eliminator last weekend in McCloskey’s home country of Ireland.
Maidana says he’s willing to fight McCloskey next, saying on his twitter “Congrats on your win. You know sometimes fighters ourselves don’t decide 100 percent in boxing [about who to fight], but I’m willing to face you with respect.”
Hearn wants Maidana to fight McCloskey in Belfast
By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s), wants the WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) to have to come to Belfast, Ireland to fight McCloskey in his home city for his next fight rather than in a neutral country or in Maidana’s home country of Argentina.
How come McCloskey’s fans can’t accept that Prescott won?
By Scott Gilfoid: It’s so sad that Paul McCloskey’s loyal and loving Irish and English fans can’t accept and come to terms with the fact that the better man didn’t win last night. It should have been Breidis Prescott (24-3, 19 KO’s) who walked out of the Odyssey Arena last night with the “W”, not McCloskey with his 12 round unanimous decision.
