By Allan Fox: Former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (26-2-1, 16 KOs) is hoping WBA World 147lb belt holder Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) will give him a rematch so that he can avenge his 12 round unanimous decision loss from June 25. Thurman is Porter’s No.1 target for his next fight if he can get it. However, if Porter can’t get a second fight against Thurman right away, he’d like to get a fight against one of the following fighters: Danny Garcia, Andre Berto, Brandon Rios, John Molina or Ruslan Provodnikov.

Porter can be back inside the ring within the next three months, according to his trainer/father Kenny Porter. That’s an incredibly quick turnaround for a fighter that took as much punishment as Porter did.

Burns interested in Crawford, Zlaticanin, Molina & Provodnikov fights

burns864

By Scott Gilfoid: It appears that the recent victory by Ricky Burns (40-5-1, 14 KOs) over an over-matched Michele Di Rocco (40-2-1, 18 KOs) last May seems to have knocked some ideas into his head, because he’s now saying he would like to fight the likes of Terence Crawford, Dejan Zlaticanin, John Molina and Ruslan Provodnikov for his next fight.

Burns, 33, knocked out Di Rocco in the 8th round on May 28th to capture the vacant WBA World light welterweight title in Glasgow, Scotland. The victory by Burns has some of his boxing fans thinking he’s rejuvenated him after his previous losses to Zlaticanin, Crawford and Omar Figueroa, as well as the fight he should have lost to Raymundo Beltran. However, you can’t tell whether Burns has improved in his last three fights because he’s faced very, very poor opposition in Di Rocco, Prince Ofotsu and Josh King.

The fight wasn’t as interesting as some of the other matches that Molina and Provodnikov have been involved in before in the past. However, they are both older now and have had time to realize that their past fighting styles don’t work much of the time.

Provodnikov vs. Molina Jr. tonight on Showtime

molina317

(Photo credit: Amanda Westcott/SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: John Molina Jr. (28-6, 23 KOs) really has his work cut out for him tonight in his fight against the hard punching slugger Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4, 18 KOs) in their contest on Showtime Boxing at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in New York. Molina still wants to win a world title.

It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen with him. He’ll very likely be knocked out by Provodnikov tonight, and the loss could knock Molina out of the top 15. He’s been losing so frequently as of late that you have to wonder why the World Boxing Organization still has him ranked in their top 15.

Image: Broner vs. Provodnikov a possibility for Fall

By Allan Fox: #1 WBC, #2 WBO, #3 WBA light welterweight contender Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4, 18 KOs) could be facing former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) in the fall if he defeats #8 WBO John Molina Jr. (28-6, 23 KOs) in their fight this Saturday night on Showtime Boxing from the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The Broner vs. Provodnikov fight is one that Showtime is interested in televising on their network, according to Dan Rafael.

Provodnikov, 32, has a very good chance of beating Molina on Saturday because this fight is heavily slanted in his favor. Molina is losing almost every time he fights nowadays, and he’s coming into the Provodnikov fight with three defeats in his last four fights.

Provodnikov vs. Molina Jr. is a fight to achieve boxing Valhalla

Provodnikov and Molina compare muscles

By Gerardo Granados: I cannot recall if it has happened in the past that on back to back weekends, we the fight fans, had at least the possibility to watch two fights of the year performances. This Saturday, on June 11 at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York, the “Siberian Rocky” Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4) will fight against John John Molina Jr. (28-6) in a fight that no one will get bored watching. Today both fighters tip the scales at 140 pounds so we have a fight.

I said to a friend, who is excited about the upcoming Provodnikov vs. Molina fight, that to these ring warriors I call “Valhalla fighters”, because they look for prize fighting immortality thru engaging in a grueling fight that can please all fight fans, the boxing purist included. If it wasn’t that way, then all fights of the year awards would go to the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury I or Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao type of fights instead.

Provodnikov vs. Molina this Saturday in Verona, New York

Ruslan Provodnikov

By Dan Ambrose: #2 WBO, #3 WBA light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4, 18 KOs) expects his 12 round fight against #8 WBO John Molina Jr. (28-6, 23 KOs) to be a war this Saturday night when the two of them go at it on Showtime Boxing from the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York.

There won’t be a world title belt on the line for this contest, and it’s highly doubtful that either of these guys will be a winning a world title in the future. These are simple sluggers that are out-boxed by the better fighters at 140.

This would have been a good fight several years ago when Molina was still fighting at a high level, but he’s 33 now and his career has downhill lately with him losing three out of his last four fights in the last two years since 2014.

Provodnikov battles Molina on 6/11 in Verona, New York

Image: Provodnikov battles Molina on 6/11 in Verona, New YorkBy Chris Williams: It looks like Top Rank promoter Bob Arum struck out in his attempts at getting former WBO light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4, 18 KOs) to fight his guy WBO 140lb champion Terence Crawford for July.

Instead of Provodnikov taking that fight, he’ll be facing lightweight slugger John Molina (28-6, 23 KOs) on June 11 in a fight televised by Showtime Boxing from the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. This is a pretty evenly matched fight with two guys that are both struggling badly with their careers.
