Deontay Wilder training only 2 weeks for Audley Harrison fight

wilder55By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten American heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) says he’s only been in training camp for 2 weeks in getting ready for his fight this month against Britain’s Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, UK.

The incredibly powerful Wilder doesn’t see it as being a problem because he keeps himself in tip top shape and his training camps are merely used to fine tune his skills to get him ready for whoever he’s facing. He doesn’t need a ton of time to go over and over the game plan he’s going to use against the 6’6” Audley because he plans on going out there and running him over as fast as possible.

Deontay Wilder: I end careers; Audley could be my next victim

wilder55By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) says he’s ended a number of fighters’ careers by knocking them out in a brutal fashion, and he sees himself as having the potential to do the same thing for British heavyweight Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) in their fight on April 27th at the Motorpoint Arena, in Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Deontay said to thesun.co.uk “Many times I’ve hit guys and ended their careers. This is the power I bring and now he’s [Audley] facing a young lion – a strong, dangerous guy. If he gets hit right that will retire him…I end careers.”

Deontay Wilder: If I hit Audley Harrison hard enough I’ll put him into a retirement home

wilder33By Scott Gilfoid: American heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) plans on not only knocking British heavyweight Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) this month on April 27th, but he also plans on sending the 41-year-old Audley into retirement or a retirement home by hitting him so hard that he can’t continue to fight.

Deontay said to the BBC Sport “I’m predicting a knockout. If I connect correctly, I can put you into retirement or a retirement home…He [Audley] falls and he keeps getting back up. I like that…I’m the next heavyweight champion of the world.”

Wilder vs. Harrison: Deontay faces first test on April 27th

wilder48By Charles Kane: I am not a boxer, never have been and never will. I have been a fan of boxing for over thirty years and have witnessed firsthand some of the greatest bouts in history. My fascination with boxing was apparent from an early age; sadly, problems with my eyesight prevented me from taking up the noble art. I have learnt the art through countless hours in boxing gyms and reading books.

I have no idea what is like to stand in the ring and face a man so hyped up that he wants to tear my head clean off my shoulders, I have never taken a full bloodied punch in the face and hopefully never will. From an outsider’s point of view and one with a good knowledge of boxing, I feel that the current situation in the heavyweight division is somewhat disturbing.

Is Deontay Wilder the real deal?

wilder46By James Sexton: A lot of writers and personal friends are split on this topic, and for good reason. At first look, it is very impressive with an undefeated 6’7 American Heavyweight Deontay Wiler, who picked up a bronze medal at the 2008 olympic games, and has since amassed a professional record of 27-0 including 27 knockouts.

On paper, Wilder is a real star in the making. However, his critics like to point to the fact that in his time as a professional he has not defeated a single legitimate opponent, yet has still been knocked down by these lesser foes.

I am not here to knock his accomplishments as a boxer. From watching him it is immediately apparent that he has an incredible amount of power in his shots. It just seems that when you describe someone like Audley Harrison as a ‘step-up’ in competition, you have to wonder what he has been matched with up until this point.

Deontay Wilder: Will fight for food

wilder51“Audley is a great person and a friend. He had me in camp sparring last year and I appreciate that he had confidence I could help him. But in boxing, if you say you’re not going to fight because you’re friends then you won’t ever fight anyone! A lot of us are friends from sparring and camps and all, but Audley stands in the way of what I’m trying to do. He’s reinvented himself many times and you can never count him out. He’s on a high right now from winning the Prizefighter, but he’s in my way and I’m starving. I’m so hungry I’m like a guy in front of Burger King with a sign that reads, “Will Fight For Food!” I’m starving to be champion.

Starving to be great. So yes, I’m looking for a knockout, because getting through this door leads to all the things I want. I have a lot of fans in England and a lot of people that don’t like me too. That’s okay. The ones that like me, it’s because of the knockouts. The ones that don’t wonder if I really hit that hard.

Deontay Wilder: I probably got more fans in England than Audley has

wilder52By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) is excited about getting back in the ring to fight in front of what should be a large British audience this month in his fight against Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) on April 27th at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, UK.

Wilder, 27, expects to be warmly greeted by the British fans and sees himself as having more fans in the Arena than the 41-year-old Audley will. I don’t know about that, but I’m sure Deontay will do a good job winning over the fans by putting in an impressive performance against the 6’6” Audley.

Deontay: I’m going to end Audley Harrison’s career

wilder364By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) sees himself putting Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) out of his misery this month in their fight on April 27th. Although Audley has made retirement threats in the past before and after defeats, but this time Wilder feels there will be no coming back.

Audley will have to retire once Deontay knocks him out with one of his hard right hands in their fight at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, UK.

Deontay said to RingTV “I’m going to put his [Audley] career to rest because when I hit Audley Harrison the right way, that may be the best punch that ends up ending his career.”

Deontay Wilder: Audley has already admitted that I dropped him sparring; he didn’t drop me

wilder23By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) spoke up to address the silly rumors floating around the internet about Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) having dropped him while Deontay was helping the 41-year-old Audley out with sparring to get him ready for his fight with David Price last year.

Wilder said to RingTV “A lot of people spread rumors…I know and he knows what really happened…He has already put out there that I dropped him.”

So there it is once again. Audley himself addressed the rumor on his twitter recently, saying that he hadn’t knocked Deontay down in sparring, and the opposite had happened with him getting knocked down.

Don’t be surprised if Audley KO’s Wilder

wilder3By Adam Mccoy: Out of the eight articles I’ve put up on this site at least half of them are about unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s). I just can’t help myself when the Wilder debate starts. Deontay Wilder in a neutrals eyes is a machine. If you tell a neutral with not a great deal of interest in boxing that there is guy out there that has knocked out everyone hes ever faced people will be amazed.

It’s a great record and a great achievement and it may yet continue for a while longer. But then you look at it from a boxing fans view someone who knows about the sport and how the match making system works and suddenly Deontay Wilder stands with a question mark above his head.
