Deontay Wilder: Audley has already admitted that I dropped him sparring; he didn’t drop me

wilder23By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) spoke up to address the silly rumors floating around the internet about Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) having dropped him while Deontay was helping the 41-year-old Audley out with sparring to get him ready for his fight with David Price last year.

Wilder said to RingTV “A lot of people spread rumors…I know and he knows what really happened…He has already put out there that I dropped him.”

So there it is once again. Audley himself addressed the rumor on his twitter recently, saying that he hadn’t knocked Deontay down in sparring, and the opposite had happened with him getting knocked down.

Some of Audley’s fans have quickly come to his rescue by saying that it was an elbow from Deontay that knocked the 6’6” Audley down, but of course if that was the case then Deontay would have admitted it and he didn’t.

Wilder just flat out knocked Audley down during their sparring session, but he was too classy to brag about it because the unwritten code in sparring sessions is that what happens in the sessions stays in the sparring session.

You don’t brag about it, and Deontay has been first place in keeping quiet about it all these months while the nasty rumors about Audley having knocked him down in sparring has spread around the internet to the point where people accept it as gospel.

The fact is Wilder dropped Audley like a bad habit in their sparring session, and the shot may have felt like it was an elbow due to how hard Deontay hit him, but it was from a clean right hand to the head.

Deontay and Audley will be facing each other this month on April 27th at the Motorpoint Arena, in Sheffield, UK.

Deontay says he’s going to settle the gossip garbage on that night, saying to RingTV “April 27, on that day, that will be all that matters. People can say what they want until then.”
