Don’t be surprised if Audley KO’s Wilder

wilder3By Adam Mccoy: Out of the eight articles I’ve put up on this site at least half of them are about unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s). I just can’t help myself when the Wilder debate starts. Deontay Wilder in a neutrals eyes is a machine. If you tell a neutral with not a great deal of interest in boxing that there is guy out there that has knocked out everyone hes ever faced people will be amazed.

It’s a great record and a great achievement and it may yet continue for a while longer. But then you look at it from a boxing fans view someone who knows about the sport and how the match making system works and suddenly Deontay Wilder stands with a question mark above his head.

How in 27 fights has Deontay not fought anyone with half a chance of fighting back, anyone with a reputation or i dare to say anybody with a pulse? Take David Price for example a heavyweight boxer who despite suffering a knockout loss still has the respect of the boxing audience and the potential to go on to be a world champion. We can say this because Price has not been afraid to test himself and when he met his match he lost and what does price do, He didn’t put his tail between his legs he got his promoter to get Tony Thompson back in the ring and that takes guts. How can Deontay speak in interviews with the arrogance and confidence that he does when the whole world knows the truth that hes fighting nobodies.

Come April 27th things are about to change. Deontay steps in the ring with Audley Harrison and love him or hate him Audley can punch. It’s took Deontay 28 fights to finally face someone with a reputation but in my opinion hes left it to late. If Wilder loses hes been exposed by what Wilder fans are calling has-been Harrison. If the bell even rings to call a end to round one then it’s took the mighty heavy hitting Deontay wilder longer to KO Harrison than it took David Price.

I’m not a Wilder critic I’d like to be proved wrong because if hes the real deal this guy could be exciting and maybe a world champion. But my honest opinion is that Audley’s left will wobble Wilder and maybe seriously hurt him. Look at Harrison’s deadly KO of Michael Sprott in the 12th round and Sprott can take a punch. Not to mention the fact that Wilder has never fought anyone of any real quality but hes also tasted the canvas himself on two previous occasions. Wilder has thin legs thin ankles and has never taken a punch off a guy like Audley despite being knocked down before. If Harold Schoniers can knock Wilder down think what Harrison can do. The guy could put a horse to sleep with that left. His career is coming to an end as David Price showed but for a fighter who’s fought at the very top challenging for world titles to face a guy that’s never proven himself i mean it do not be surprised to see Harrison put Wilder down for the count.
