Lemieux destroys Ayrapetyan

lemieux1By Jim Dower: Canadian middleweight David Lemieux (28-2, 27 KO’s) continued with his successful comeback tonight with an impressive 2nd round knockout of an over-matched 31-year-old Albert Ayrapetyan (20-4, 9 KO’s) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Lemieux, 23, knocked Ayrapetyan down three times in the fight, and ended it with a big right hand that dropped Ayrapetyan as he foolishly was attempting to fight off the ropes.

Lemieux knocked Ayrapetyan down twice in the 1st round and Ayrapetyan barely escaped the round. Lemieux scored the first knockdown on a hard left hook to the head. Ayrapetyan seemed to be doing okay after the knockdown until Lemieux flurried on him when Ayrapetyan once again backed up to the ropes.

Pascal defeats Kuziemski; Bizier, Alvarez and Lemieux victorious

pascal342By Jason Kim: Former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal(27-2, 16 KO’s) bravely fought the last 8 rounds of his fight tonight against Aleksy Kuziemski (23-5, 7 KO’s) using only one arm after Pascal separated his left shoulder in the 4th round when he got his arm caught on the ring ropes while throwing a punch at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The injury didn’t really matter, because Pascal was able to beat the light hitting 35-year-old Kuziemski using just his right arm alone. The scoring of the fight was way off, however, because they had Pascal winning by the lopsided scores of 100-88, 98-90, 98-90.

Pascal-Kuziemski, Lemieux- Ayrapetyan, Alvarez-McIntosh tonight in Montreal, Canada

By Allan Fox: Former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KO’s) will be fighting for the first time in a year a half when he takes on Aleksy Kuziemski (23-4, 7 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout tonight at the Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Pascal has been out of action with injuries since losing his World Boxing Council 175 pound title to 47-year-old Bernard Hopkins last year in May.

Also on the card will be middleweight David Lemieux (27-2, 26 KO’s) in a slight step up in competition against Albert Ayrapetyan (20-3, 9 KO’s). Lemieux has been trying to turn his career around after suffering losses to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine last year.

Lemieux to fight on Pascal-Kuziemski undercard on December 14th

Image: Lemieux to fight on Pascal-Kuziemski undercard on December 14thBy Allan Fox: Middleweight David Lemieux (27-2, 26 KO’s) will be fighting on the undercard of the Jean Pascal vs. Aleksy Kuziemski on December 14th at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The 23-year-old Lemieux still doesn’t have an opponent for the fight but it’s expected to be someone not too difficult for him. Lemieux has won his last two fights after suffering losses to Joachim Alcine and Marco Antonio Rubio in 2011.

Lemieux ran out of gas in both of those fights after failing to score early knockouts like he’d grown accustomed to. It is hoped that Lemieux will learn to pace himself a little better and build up some stamina so that when he does fight opponents that extend him into the second half of fights he won’t run out of gas so badly like he did in the Alcine and Rubio losses.

Lemieux beats Gaona, but shows zero progress

Image: Lemieux beats Gaona, but shows zero progressBy Scott Gilfoid: Middleweight David Lemieux (27-2, 26 KO’s) had his way with the soft opponent Alvaro Gaona (11-2, 7 KO’s) that his promoters picked out for him last Friday night in stopping him in the 1st round at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Lemieux, who is trying to rebuild his career after losses to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Aline, knocked Gaona down twice in the round to get the stoppage victory at 2:48 of the round.

The ending came when Lemieux connected with a big left hook that knocked an already badly hurt Gaona clean out, sending him to the canvas flat on his back with both of his arms and legs stretched out in a knockout spasm. Moments before that, Lemieux had knocked Gaona on his backside with a right hand to the head while he was foolishly in the corner trying to fight.

Stevenson stops George; Lemieux destroys Gaona in 1st round TKO

Image: Stevenson stops George; Lemieux destroys Gaona in 1st round TKOBy Jim Dower: #2 IBF Adonis Stevenson (19-1, 16 KO’s) put himself in position to get a title shot against IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch by knocking #11 IBF Don George (23-3-1, 20 KO’s) down five times en route to stopping him in the 12th round on Friday night at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. George, 27, was in constant trouble from the 5th round on, getting knocked down twice in the 5th, once in the 6th and the final two times in the 12th before the fight was finally halted.

However, it’s still very hard to see Stevenson beating Froch, if he ever gets that fight. Froch is a lot better than George and he’d have found an answer to Stevenson’s straight left hands by nailing him with left hands and straights of his own.

Stevenson faces George, Lemieux battles Gaona on October 12th

Image: Stevenson faces George, Lemieux battles Gaona	on October 12thBy Jason Kim: next month, super middleweight contenders Adonis Stevenson (18-1, 15 KO’s) and Don George (23-2-1, 20 KO’s) will be meeting to fight in an IBF super middleweight eliminator bout at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The winner of the George-Stevenson fight will get a shot against IBF champion Carl Froch possibly next year.

Stevenson, 35, really hasn’t faced the kind of puncher that George is since getting stopped by Darnell Boone in the 2nd round in 2010. Stevenson wasn’t ready for that kind of power and folded quickly against Boone. George can punch at least as hard as Boone when he’s sitting down on his punches.
