By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (27-3, 19 KO’s) says he’ll be moving up to welterweight immediately after he avenges his loss to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in last 2013. Khan wants to capture Garcia’s two titles, prove that his loss to him was a fluke thing, and then look for more titles at welterweight.
Khan said on Sky Ringside “Maybe by the end of the year [2013] that fight [Danny Garcia] can happen. I’m not going to leave the light welterweight until I fight Garcia again and get my title back, [and] then I think it’ll be the right time to move up. At the moment, I make the 140 pound division quite easily. So Virgil [Hunter] is still advising me to stay at this weight.“

By Scott Gilfoid: As fast and as talented as Amir Khan, he has a bad habit of looking too far off into the future for titles he wants to capture and fighters he wants to take on. Khan is now talking about how he plans on fighting a rematch with his former conqueror WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia AFTER Khan defeats his next opponent in April for a world title.
By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (27-3, 19 KO’s) is saying that his next fight in April of 2013 will be for a world title at light welterweight, and he then plans on fighting WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in a rematch/unification bout after that.
By William Mackay: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) doesn’t think Amir Khan (27-3, 19 KO’s) would be giving him a rematch if Khan had beaten him last July instead of the other way around. Garcia thinks Khan doesn’t give guys rematches after he beats them, even when it’s a fight where boxing fans really want to see the rematch like in Khan’s in over Marcos Maidana.
A great deal has been said and written about Danny Garcia beating Amir Khan. Some fans and writers believe Khan got exposed while others marvel at Garcia’s punching power. A cold analysis of that fight will reveal the following: Garcia didn’t beat Khan. Khan beat himself. Garcia was throwing that left hook of his during the first 3 rounds and wildly missing with it.
By William Mackay: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia says he’s up for a rematch with former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan after watching him defeat Carlos Molina last night by a 10th round TKO in Los Angeles, California. Khan called Garcia out after the fight, saying he’d be willing to fight him “Anytime, anyplace.” Khan also claimed that his knockout loss to Garcia was due to Garcia getting “lucky.”
(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) The reason I ask this is because the only notable victory on the Philadelphian’s record is Amir Khan. Danny Garcia beat Erik Morlales, who WAS an absolute gladiator in his prime, having fought some of the best in the business like Manny Pacquaio and Marco Antonio Barrera (these fights in particular were blockbusters) but he has aged a lot since then and is nowhere near the fighter he was. All credit to him still for fighting on for this long.
