Why isn’t Khan more popular?

khan6By Chris Miller: Amir Khan is not shy and does not hide the fact that he is a Muslim, he in fact seems very proud of his religion and heritage and always refers to himself as a British/Pakistani young man. This seems to rub some people up the wrong way, the sad fact of life is many around the world seem to tar other people with the same brush(very unfairly).

Boxing Blessed With Talent Rich 140lb and 147lb Weight Divisions.

pac43by Chris Miller: We may not be gifted enough to have a talent stacked heavyweight division in boxing anymore but we certainly do have talent rich Light Welterweight and Welterweight divisions. We have a whole list of fighters out there who really excite me and who can really propel boxing in 2013! There are the obvious names like Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather but I really feel boxing is starting to ever so slightly move past these two GREAT fighters.

The boxing world is moving into a transitional phase with regards to the 140lb and 147lb divisions, many fight fans have one eye and one ear on who the next big star is going to be. Who is going to be boxing’s new  ‘poster boy’? The obvious fighter that springs to mind is Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner but we are lucky to have many other young, hungry and exciting fighters out there at the moment.

Danny Garcia: Is He The Real Deal?

Dany Garcia(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) The reason I ask this is because the only notable victory on the Philadelphian’s record is Amir Khan. Danny Garcia beat Erik Morlales, who WAS an absolute gladiator in his prime, having fought some of the best in the business like Manny Pacquaio and Marco Antonio Barrera (these fights in particular were blockbusters) but he has aged a lot since then and is nowhere near the fighter he was. All credit to him still for fighting on for this long.

Back to Garcia. After defeating Khan with a crushing knockout blow to the Brits neck area he then goes on to fight Morales for a second time, I understand there may have been a clause in the contract from the first fight here, but then he goes on to fight Zab ‘Super’ Judah. How does this happen? It’s quite frustrating how Angel Garcia (Danny’s father) who is a very disrespectful guy (some may say racist too for some of his previous comments in the build up to the Khan fight) says him and his son fight ‘the best in the business’, but they come off a great, unexpected win over Khan then to fight two way past their prime fighters like Judah and Morales.

How Much Will Amir Really Change?

Amir Khan(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) Amir Khan (26-3, 18KO’s) is one of the most exciting and lightning fast (hand and foot speed) fighters of the present boxing era and this Saturday night he’ll climb into the squared circle again for the first time since his stoppage loss to Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia to face off with Carlos Molina (17-0-1,7 KO’s). Khan will be looking for a little bit of redemption  and he’ll also be looking to turn the eyes of the boxing world back on to him again.

In some peoples opinion Amir is in the ‘last chance saloon’ with regards to his boxing career, although I don’t think this myself. I feel boxing fans are too quick to judge when a fighter losses and I feel if a fighter losses they are quickly thrown onto the scrap heap too often, unfairly and unjustified.
