Garcia predicting early knockout of Zab Judah

By Dan Ambrose: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia sees himself making quick work of 35-year-old former two division world champion Zab Judah when they meet up on February 9th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Garcia said to Radio Raheem “I’m going to knock Judah out in 4.”

It took Amir Khan five rounds to get Judah out of there last year, so you’ve got to figure that Garcia should be able to do it even faster than Khan because he blew out Khan earlier this year. However, Khan’s KO over Judah came when Khan held Judah’s head down with his left arm while hitting him with a right hand on the belt line. The referee shouldn’t have counted that as a knockout because holding and hitting isn’t legal in boxing.

Judah isn’t in the class of Garcia, and this fight is definitely going to be ending with Judah getting knocked out. The only question is which round that Judah gets knocked out. Judah may be able to survive if he moves constantly, but if he stands in the corner like he often does, he’ll get knocked out quick in this fight. Since Judah started getting old, he’s picked up a bad habit of retreated to a corner and then just looking to land uppercuts, his favorite punch.

Judah can throw uppercuts with a lot of power, but he’s going to be able to beat a good fighter like Garcia with that punch alone, and he’s not going to be able to keep up with Garcia’s much higher work rate. It won’t take long for Garcia to chop Judah down if all Judah can do is sit against the ropes looking to land one big punch.

Judah didn’t have to do much to earn this title shot after his knockout loss to Khan. All Judah had to do was beat an inexperienced Vernon Paris and the fight was. It’s too bad Judah didn’t face someone really good so he could actually earn the shot and prove he belongs in the same ring with Garcia.
