David Price: Tyson Fury must be jealous of me getting praise

Image: David Price: Tyson Fury must be jealous of me getting praiseBy William Mackay: British heavyweight champion David Price (14-0, 12 KO’s) is both amused and confused at the same time at the anger that heavyweight contender Tyson Fury showed yesterday when he spoke about the recent challenge that Price’s promoter Frank Maloney made to him to fight Price. Fury said this about Price: “I’m going to do you some personal harm.”

Price said this about Fury’s anger at Sky Sports News: “He [Fury] cannot handle other people getting praise and credit. That’s why he…made an absolute fool of himself…It must be a case of jealousy or something.”

Tyson Fury hopping mad after Price’s promoter calls him out

Image: Tyson Fury hopping mad after Price's promoter calls him outBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight Tyson Fury reacted with anger at being called out tonight by Frank Maloney, the promoter for British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price.

Here’s part of what Fury said “To be honest, [Audley] Harrison is the biggest bum in boxing, and my reaction to David Price and Frank Maloney calling me out, that midget, yeah, I’ll fight Price any day of the week. You see, you’re a bum from Liverpool. It’s personal between me and you. I’m going to do you some serious harm, you big stiff idiot. Also, you are getting it. Call me out, call me any names and you are getting it.”

I feel for Audley Harrison: Price victorious as Audley falls 1st round

Image: I feel for Audley Harrison: Price victorious as Audley falls 1st roundBy Gari Jones: Originally built as Battle of the Olympians, David Price now W14, KO12, L0, D0 versus Audley Harrison W28, KO 21, L6, D0 the night ended in disaster for Audley Harrison.

In 80 seconds Audley’s dreams of any sort of redemption for himself ended in dramatic fashion. David Price who is without a doubt one of the hottest prospects on the heavyweight scene made a statement of intent; he is an upcoming heavyweight boxer.

Price shows his power against Harrison

Image: Price shows his power against HarrisonBy Gareth Rees: You can look at David Price’s (14-0) brutal 1st round knockout victory over Audley Harrison (28-6) in two different ways. David Price defended his British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles in ruthless fashion as a sharp right hand hurt Harrison forcing him onto the ropes and from there it was just a matter of when the stoppage would come.

After a flurry of punches with many connecting, a huge right hand square to Harrison’s chin was all she wrote as it put Harrison to sleep, after a while Harrison did get up and seemed to have recovered and hopefully didn’t seem to have any serious damage.

David Price would destroy any heavyweight!

Image: David Price would destroy any heavyweight!By Mark Calooke: Tonight David Price demonstrated why he is the most avoided heavyweight around. He obliterated Audley Harrison in quicker fashion than David Haye. I expect he will now find it even harder to get big fights. in effect he has told the world “fight me if you want to be put to sleep”.

The Klitschko Brother have predicted he will one day become heavyweight champion and Lennox Lewis has openly expressed his excitement at the prospect of Price’s future. I share the same feelings. He is the only man who can rejuvenate the tediously dull heavyweight scene.

Price destroys Harrison in one round!!

Image: Price destroys Harrison in one round!!By Scott Gilfoid: In a joke of a fight unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (14-0, 12 KO’s) destroyed 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-6, 21 KO’s) in one round on Saturday night at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. Price hurt Harrison with a right that didn’t look all that powerful but it was enough to back Harrison up to the ropes. Price then rushed Harrison and flurried on him while he cringed against the ropes and then slid down on the canvas from the barrage.

Referee Howard John Foster then halted the mismatch a minute and a half into the fight.

Harrison promising to put in good effort against Price

Image: Harrison promising to put in good effort against PriceBy William Mackay: 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) says he’s going to put in a good effort tonight win or lose against the young and undefeated British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s) at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. You can’t say Harrison’s career will be over if he loses, because his career has been sinking into the mire for ages now and one more loss won’t change much.

It’s pretty obvious that Price’s promoter Frank Maloney specifically picked out Harrison because of how poor he’s been fighting for the past five years. If he was fighting at the top of his game this fight likely wouldn’t be happening.

Price obliterates Harrison; Skelton defeats Gospic

Image: Price obliterates Harrison; Skelton defeats GospicBy Jim Dower: Unbeaten British heavyweight champion David Price (14-0, 12 KO’s) pretty much put Audley Harrison (28-6, 21 KO’s) out of his misery on Saturday night in stopping him in the 1st round at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. Harrison, 40, hasn’t announced his retirement yet, but this loss will be very difficult for him to come back from.

Like in his loss to David Haye in 2010, Harrison froze up and failed to let his hands go in the first minute of action against the 6’8″ Price. This allowed Price to be the first one to land and once he did with his right hand, it sent Harrison reeling to the ropes where he was near helpless.

Harrison just a stepping stone for Price

Image: Harrison just a stepping stone for PriceBy John F. McKenna (McJack): It is doubtful if many boxing insiders give former Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’S) much of a chance to defeat the rising star that is David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s). The current British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion at 6’8” is a fighter who is destined if all goes well to challenge the dominance of heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko in the next year or two. Price appears to have all the tools to take him to the very pinnacle of success in the heavyweight division.

For that reason those who are guiding Price at this early stage of his career need to tread lightly and carefully before exposing him to a fighter who has a real chance to derail him in his quest for a title shot. In picking Audley Harrison as Price’s next opponent his management team appears to have chosen an opponent who has very little chance of achieving victory when the two clash on Saturday night at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool.

Price vs. Harrison, my prediction

Image: Price vs. Harrison, my predictionBy Mark Havey: This weekend will see a Heavyweight clash between David Price and Audley Harrison. Price is the hard hitting mountain from Liverpool. He has managed to make tough men appear to be cursed with glass jaws. Audley Harrison was hugely impressive as an amateur and won Olympic gold in 2000. As a professional he has been far from inspiring. Credit where it is true, he has had a few good fights, but not many.

Some people unequivocally agree with me. Others say I am being foolish for stacking such high odds against a big heavyweight like Harrison. But I have been fooled by Audley Harrison before, and it will never happen again. Everyone has heard his big claims in the past. He seems confident every single time. look at the way he was talking before the Haye fight, then compare it to the actual fight. Again Harrison is saying “the pressure is off me” “I’m back in love with boxing” the list goes on. Harrison says he was injured for his title fight against David Haye.
