Image: Price destroys Harrison in one round!!By Scott Gilfoid: In a joke of a fight unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (14-0, 12 KO’s) destroyed 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-6, 21 KO’s) in one round on Saturday night at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. Price hurt Harrison with a right that didn’t look all that powerful but it was enough to back Harrison up to the ropes. Price then rushed Harrison and flurried on him while he cringed against the ropes and then slid down on the canvas from the barrage.

Referee Howard John Foster then halted the mismatch a minute and a half into the fight.

What a sick mismatch. The funny thing is the right hand that hurt Harrison with wasn’t a big punch at all. Harrison then made things hard for himself by retreating against the ropes and just standing there as if he was waiting to get blown out. Price then mixed in a few right hands and left hooks to get Harrison out of there. The finishing shot was a right hand that snapped Harrison’s head back causing him to slide to the canvas.

I don’t know what happened to Harrison. He looked like he’d been stunned even before he came out in the ring. I’m now wondering if those four hard weeks of sparring that he had with the talented American Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) did something to Harrison because he looked dizzy even walking out there. I swear, Harrison looked like someone had reached back and clocked him even before he came out for the fight. He wasn’t all there tonight.

Sometimes when fighters take hard beatings in recent fights they’re susceptible to getting knocked out quickly. In hindsight, maybe it wasn’t a good idea to have the knockout artist Wilder working as Harrison’s sparring partner for this fight. He could have been hurting Harrison on a daily basis for four weeks. Wilder would have been better working with Price.
