Broner to face DeMarco on November 17th on HBO – Breaking News!

Image: Broner to face DeMarco on November 17th on HBO - Breaking News!By Eric Thomas: Former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) will be moving up in weight to challenge WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) on November 17th, according to Fightnews.com. The fight will be televised by HBO, possibly in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

DeMarco, 26, is coming off of a 1st round knockout victory over fringe contender John Molina last Saturday night on September 8th. DeMarco hurt Molina with a straight left to the head and then flurried on him until the referee stopped the fight with Molina hung up on the ropes like a giant fly stuck in a spiderweb. That was DeMarco’s second defense of his World Boxing Council 135 pound title.

De La Hoya wants Broner vs. DeMarco fight

Image: De La Hoya wants Broner vs. DeMarco fightBy Dan Ambrose: While boxing fans seem to be more interested in seeing former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) face WBC interim welterweight champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) in his next fight, Oscar De La Hoya, the president of Golden Boy Promotions, seems to be more inclined to match the 23-year-old Broner against the tall and slender southpaw WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s).

De La Hoya said on his twitter “DeMarco vs. Broner.”

Broner can do better than DeMarco for his next fight

Image: Broner can do better than DeMarco for his next fightBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten former WBO super featherweight Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) has already called out WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (27-2-1, 20 KO’s) for his next fight, but that’s not much of a fight if you ask me. Broner is aiming too low if he wants to fight DeMarco, because this guy was already exposed badly by Edwin Valero two years ago in a 9th round stoppage and he’s done nothing much since then other than beating a fragile-chinned Jorge Linares.

Professional Boxing: Why do we keep on watching?

Image: Professional Boxing: Why do we keep on watching?By Gerardo Granados: Once upon a time I saw warriors fight each other, and I like it so much that since I have not stopped watching. Sigh at the memories, when I recall some of those great fights I saw, it makes me sad to see that some of the new boxing stars lack of the hunger of a lion king, and most of them lack of that mean tough attitude. To watch the brutal violence inside the ring make us feel alive and to deny it´s just too hypocrite.

Why Antonio DeMarco would be a test for Adrien Broner

Image: Why Antonio DeMarco would be a test for Adrien BronerBy Hector Gonzalez: Adrien Broner defeated Vincente Escobedo this weekend, although Broner won the fight in spectacular fashion, his victory also raised some eyebrows. Broner walked in 143.5 pounds on Saturday morning and walking in at 147 during the fight. The question that needs to be asked is, “Is Broner simply to big for the 130 division or did he need the extra weight in order to dominate Escobedo?“ It’s a fair question. Here are some thoughts.

Dawson-Ward, DeMarco-Molina: Two good fights on HBO on September 8th

Image: Dawson-Ward, DeMarco-Molina: Two good fights on HBO on September 8thBy Allan Fox: It’s scary how bad last night’s mismatches were on HBO with Adrien Broner easily beating Vincente Escobedo, Keith Thurman destroying an overmatched Orlando Lora and Omar Figueroa dominating an outclassed Dominic Salcido. The card was either poorly thought out or planned to make the winners look better than they are. Whatever the case, they bad fights for boxing fans to watch. However, on September 8th, HBO has a good chance of redeeming themselves by televising Chad Dawson vs. Andre Ward and Antonio DeMarco vs. John Molina at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
