Will Someone Shut Up Carl Froch?

froch53445By Kevin Pasquale: Showtime’s Super 6 Tournament, which now some are calling the “Super 5”, with the obliteration of Jermain Taylor, is the perfect tournament, for the following reason, amongst many. Some of the best super-middleweight fighters in the world will get the chance to defeat the overly arrogant, eminently beatable Carl Froch. Exhibit A:

Boxing Bitesize: La edición uno – Dirrell, Froch, Haye, Taylor, More

taylor4543234By Jordan Stoddart: Good day Boxing fans on both sides of the Atlantic and the millions watching worldwide! I thought it would be worth covering the most topical issues on this site, taking a lighter and fresher approach to some of the stuff floating about, maybe take a different angle to alienate the biased and nationalistic views that can sometimes crop up and cloud the sport. Here’ the weeks news in Bitesize.

Does anyone think Dirrell looked good against Froch?

dirrell3423433By Al Francis: Showtime’s exciting and innovative super six series got off to a flying start this past Saturday. Two out of the three opening bouts were contested, a major championship was up for grabs, 23 rounds were completed and another one almost completed! Firstly Arthur Abraham scored a chilling final round knockout over Jermain Taylor in Berlin, knocking out this writer’s pre fight prediction in the process! Up to that point in the fight it wasn’t a terribly difficult one to score, with Taylor boxing well in the first four rounds before Abraham upped his game and took the lead in the later rounds.

Froch defeats Dirrell; Abraham stops Taylor – Boxing Results

By Edd Watson: Before the super six started, all we heard from the Americans was how good their fighters were and how they had fought much better opposition and how they’d wipe the floor with the “poor” Europeans. Arthur “The King” Abraham outclassed Jermaine Taylor and made him look very old before eventually knocking him out. Carl “The Cobra” Froch was and is average at best but he still managed to beat the very fast American Andre “The Matrix” Dirrell.

Why Froch Beat Dirrell: King Arthur reigns supreme

dirrell3232By Simon Hirst: On Saturday night, we started the Super Six Tournament of the super middleweight division with two mouth-watering bouts. From Germany, we had Arthur Abraham vs Jermain Taylor in a battle of the former middleweight champions. Before the fight started, I applaud Taylor for going over to Germany to fight Abraham, a place that is famous for giving questionable decisions in favour of the fighter with home advantage, so coming from America, Taylor must have knew his chances of winning on the card were slim.

Super Six: 2 Matches, 3 Answers, 4 Fighters

froch56343By Nikolaj Ovesen: Last night was the opening of the highly anticipated ´Super Six World Boxing Classic´ tournament. In the opening we saw two former Middleweight champions, Arthur Abraham and Jermain Taylor go up against each other, and we saw current Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch go up against Olympic bronze medalist Andre Dirrell. It was two fights that probably should have been a lot alike, since both fights presented a pressure fighter against a boxing type fighter. However, where one of the fights was beautiful, the other looked more like a street fight. I’ll return to that later.

Froch inflicts first defeat on Dirrell in uninspiring contest – Boxing Results

froch56789By Matt Flanagan: Carl Froch successfully defended his WBC title against Andre Dirrell tonight in their opening fight of the Super 6 tournament. After reading all the repetitive articles on this site, that clearly lacked any objectivity, I was hoping that Froch would knock out Dirrell just to shut him, and a few other people up. This did not happen and in truth was not a pretty fight, but Froch took the fight by way of a split decision.

Abraham and Froch: The King and The Cobra come up trumps

froch3532465By Craig Martin: So the first two fights of the Super Six have come and gone. What have we learned? ‘King’ Arthur Abraham has really and truly laid the marker as a genuine winner, even at this early stage. Jermain Taylor, well, the question will no doubt be asked; what has he got left? Carl Froch continues to show massive heart and grit but one wonders just how far that will get him. And Andre Dirrell has proved that he does indeed belong with the world’s elite in this weight division.

Carl Froch wins split decision over Dirrell in stage 1 of Super Six

dirrell4433434By Sam Gregory: In the second bout of the stage 1 Super Six tournament, undefeated WBC champion Carl Froch fought undefeated Andre Dirrell at the Trent FM Arena Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom.

Round 1 Dirrell came out strong fighting right handed going right to the body; Froch missed with the right hook. Dirrell showed his confidence early talking to his opponent and switching to southpaw; both men fought very cautious until the closing bell.
