Boxing – Froch might do well to read this
By Joseph Aaron Forbes: Boxing is an interesting sport with many philosophies; to begin I will use the recent fight between Froch and Dirrell to illustrate.
I found this fight very interesting not to mention the decision but that’s for another time.
Here you had a champion in Froch that was completely out of his comfort zone. The reasons for this could be debated but I would like to offer my opinion on the subject.
Shaw trying for Dirrell-Froch rematch in December – News
By Scott Gilfoid: The promoter for the talented super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) is reportedly looking to get a December rematch between Dirrell and World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s), according to Boxing Fanhouse. Gary Shaw, the promoter for Dirrell, says “I’m looking to try to get it [Froch vs. Dirrell rematch] done in December. I’m talking to Showtime about it, and I have a meeting with them this week.” The only problem with a December fight against Froch, however, is that Dirrell has a January 23rd fight against unbeaten Arthur Abraham in Showtime’s Super Six tournament, and that would be cutting it very close for Dirrell.
Will we be seeing Froch vs. Dirrell II?
By David Lahr: The World Boxing Conference put out the following statement about a potential rematch between WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch and American challenger Andre Direll: “if a rematch could be scheduled without interfering with the [Super Six] tournament it will be approved. If it cannot then Dirrell will become the mandatory challenger after the tournament has finished..” This is all well and good, but the chances of their being a rematch while the tournament takes place are remote at this time. Froch has an upcoming match against Mikkel Kessler and Dirrell will be facing Arthur Abraham.
Abraham vs. Dirrell: Andre is going to Dismantle Arthur
By Scott Gilfoid: Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s) finds himself in the enviable position of leading the pack of super middleweights in the Super Six tournament by virtue of his 12th round knockout of Jermain Taylor. Abraham’s victory has had the effect of turning him from the fighter who least was predicted to win the Super Six tourney to the one that is now being favored by more than a few boxing fans who are seeing him with new eyes.
Dirrell and Froch Disappoint
By Glen Anglin: Saturday’s Super six level one match in Nottingham was a disappointment both stylistically and for entertainment value. Both men failed to produce a solid performance and the fight devolved to a dissatisfying spectacle lacking drama.
The highly-touted (in the USA, at least) Dirrell showed tantalizing flashes of the ring skills that have made many boxing pundits see him through rose glasses. He demonstrated very fast hand and foot speed; excellent head movement and reflexes; and a rare ability to shift stances smoothly and punch well from either stance, left-handed or right-handed. That’s the good news.

Styles make fights: Dirrell schooled Froch
By Dennis Broadhurst: Sorry for the late article but I only saw the Froch-Dirrell fight last night. I am a British boxer and boxing fan so I was favoring Froch on this one, I wanted Froch to win. After seeing the boring early start to the fight I expected Froch to come on strong and put Dirrell under pressure but he didn’t. All the fight showed was the skill and lightning speed of the young American who I think should be 19-0. I am afraid I have to agree with another writer on this site who I have criticised in the past, he was right, Dirrell should have won that fight.
Mcguigan says that Froch didn’t deserve to get win over Dirrell – News
By Scott Gilfoid: This maybe somewhat disappointing to many boxing fans of WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch but the talented boxing great Barry Mcguigan believes that Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) should have won the fight between him and Froch last weekend, according to an article from Mcguigan in The Mirror. Mcguigan, a former WBA featherweight champion and now an expert boxing analyst, says “Froch got the decision but in my view he didn’t deserve it.”
Froch-Dirrell: Enough Already
By John Dimeck: As our American cousins like to say, “Enough Already”, when bleating on about a point well made and well taken. I’m talking of course about the Froch Dirrell fight and the very close decision that went the champion’s way. May I make a few points, but they are only opinion, and I’m open to others. Firstly, and most obviously, it was a close contest. Even if there were no challenger and no champion, this was a close contest.
