By Jim Dower: Fighting for the first time in over a year, 30-year-old welterweight Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KO’s) stopped 33-year-old Calvin Green (21-6-1, 13 KO’s) in the 2nd round of a scheduled 10 round bout last Saturday night at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California. Gomez hurt Green with a hard right hand around the midpoint of the 2nd round, causing Green to immediately back away into the corner.
