Carlos Cuadras vs. Andrew Moloney has been added to the Vasily Lomachenko vs. George Kambosos Jr. card on May 11th at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
The former WBC super flyweight champion Cuadras (42-5-1, 28 KOs) will defend his interim 115-lb belt with that organization against #4 Moloney (26-3, 16 KOs). This is a toss-up fight.
When Cuadras was in the prime of his career, he’d have made easy work of a fighter like Moloney, but he’s 35 now and has lost five fights in the last seven years since 2016. Cuadras’ loss to Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez in 2016 took something out of him, as he’s not been the same fighter since.
Moloney’s Australian Advantage
Adding the 33-year-old Moloney to the card makes sense because he’s from Australia, which will make the Aussies happy. Moloney was knocked out in the 12th round last year in May by Junto Nakatani in a one-sided fight.
Moloney bounced back to defeat Judy Flores in his last fight by a ten-round unanimous decision last December. From 2020 to 2021, Moloney was beaten three times by Joshua Franco. It’s unclear what the point was in fighting three times. Franco should have moved on after the first win rather than wasting time fighting Moloney three times.
“I look forward to the challenge of fighting Andrew Moloney in Australia, and I am coming to prove I am still a force at 115 pounds,” Cuadras said. “There are many great champions in my division, but I can’t overlook Moloney, a hungry fighter who will be encouraged by the Australian fans.”
Cuadras looked good in his last fight, beating Pedro Guevara by a 12-round split decision last November to win the WBC interim super flyweight title. Although Cuadras isn’t the fighter he once was, he can still punch, and they have a lot of power when he throws combinations.

Also added to the Lomachenko-Kambosos card is WBA female bantamweight champion Nina Hughes vs. Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson.
