Lightweight contender Frank Martin is hinting that he’s got a big fight coming up for him, and some believe he’ll be the guy that Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis faces on March 30th for PBC’s kickoff with Amazon Prime Video PPV.

Tank in Search of a Challenge
There’s a lot of speculation that the unbeaten #3 WBA ‘The Ghost’ Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) could be the next opponent for WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Tank Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) to fight for the March 30th date.
It’s important that PBC match Gervonta against a quality fighter like Martin, as it would be a shame if Amazon gives them the boot if their events fail to bring in good numbers.
PBC can’t bring in great ratings on Amazon Prime with Tank Davis fighting weak opposition all the time as he’s been steadily doing. Martin would be a good matchup for the Baltimore native Tank, considering he’s got power and won’t take a knee to quit, like Gervonta’s last opponent, Ryan Garcia.
The Perfect Matchup
The punching power, boxing ability, and glittering record of ‘The Ghost’ Martin make him a good matchup for Tank Davis to fight on March 30th. Unlike Tank’s recent opposition, Ryan and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Martin has the ability to potentially defeat him.
What PBC and Gervonta need is someone who will create drama and excitement for his March 30th fight. They can’t afford another guy who looks lost inside the ring, which Tank has to carry like he appeared to do in his last two fights against Ryan and Rolly.
Those fights looked like Tank was taking it easy on them until turning it on to score knockouts in the sixth and seventh rounds.
Martin on the Rise
Frank Martin has been rising up the ranks at 135 and is coming off an impressive twelve-round unanimous decision win over Artem Harutyunyan last July.
That was ‘The Ghost’ Martin’s only fight in 2023, and some believe that he would have gotten a second fight in if not for the demise of Showtime quitting boxing. 2021 was a busier year for Martin, with him defeating previously unbeaten Michel Rivera, Jackson Mainrez, and Romero Duno.
With PBC having 12 to 14 dates with their new deal with Amazon Prime Video, it shouldn’t be a problem to keep Martin busy this year with at least two fights, if not three. At 29, Martin can’t afford to fight only once a year because he could age out or lose his career momentum.
