Luke Campbell picks Ryan Garcia to defeat Gervanta Davis

By Barry Holbrook: Luke Campbell is picking Ryan Garcia to defeat Gervonta Davis this Saturday night in their mega-fight on Showtime PPV in Las Vegas. Campbell, who was knocked out by Ryan two years ago, says his size, timing, speed & power will be too much for the smaller Tank Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) on Saturday night.

Campbell was taken out by Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) with a vicious body shot in their fight in 2021, and he can attest to the power of the lanky 5’10” fighter.

The 2012 Olympic gold medalist Campbell says that if Ryan doesn’t knockout Tank, he will beat him by a decision because he’s the better fighter.

The 24-year-old Ryan has the size, jab, and boxing skills to outbox Tank Davis because the Baltimore native has looked very limited in that department in his recent fights.

We saw Tank getting worked by Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Hector Garcia, Isaac Cruz, and Leo Santa Cruz. In each of those fights, Gervonta’s power bailed him out of difficult situations for him.

On Saturday night, Davis could come up against a fighter where his power won’t save him.

“[Ryan] Garcia wins. He’s the bigger man. I don’t think Tank’s got the work rate to keep up with Garcia,” said Luke Campbell to Boxing News Online.

“Tank’s made for [Ryan] Garcia. He’s shorter, [and] a smaller reach. He’s fast, but with Garcia’s timing and his speed, he beats Tank. If he doesn’t knock him out, he beats him on points,” said Campbell.

Ryan will have shocked the world by beating Tank Davis, as many boxing fans and media members have dismissed his chances of victory.

But when you see how insecure Tank and his team have acted in the build-up to this fight, loading the contract with weight stipulations and placing a spy in his camp, it suggests they don’t believe they can win.

What’s obvious is that Tank’s team knows he’s a badly flawed fighter, so they’re trying their best to protect their investment in any way possible, be it weight stipulations, spies, or a late weigh-in.

“Usually, a big puncher doesn’t have a massive work rate, but with Garcia’s athletic ability, speed, timing, and punch ferocity, he beats Tank. He certainly can take a shot. His best shot’s his right hook,” said Campbell about Ryan Garcia.
