Garcia vs. Spence: A Fight That Could Mint Millions

Promoter Bernard Hopkins believes a fight between Ryan Garcia and Errol Spence is one of the two most “promotable” mega-fights in the sport. Hopkins sees a Garcia vs. Spence as bringing “soap opera” drama to fans, a money-making machine that would bring in the sweet cash.

He feels Garcia-Spence is at the “top of the food chain” in terms of entertainment and attracting fans’ interest. People would be very interested in a match between the former unified welterweight champion Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) and Garcia, especially now.

The only other fight that Hopkins sees as compable is a rematch between Ryan (25-1, 20 KOs) and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis if the match can be negotiated. That one is going to stay there for a hot minute.

Haney’s Time is Up, Kingry’s Got a Fortune to Chase

As far as Bernard is concerned, every other fight for Ryan would be just a “stay busy.” They won’t bring in the same dough.

Devin Haney and his dad, Bill, won’t be happy hearing what Hopkins says about Spence and Tank Davis being the top two most “promotable” fights for Ryan because they want a rematch with him. Haney isn’t taking his loss last week too well, blaming it on the weight.

Fans don’t want to see a second Garcia-Haney fight. You can’t sell a second fight between the two that will bring in the money like the first time. It was too one-sided to sell a rematch.

Why Spence Makes Bank And Sense

“That is promotable. That is something people want to see and not just the storyline,” said promoter Bernard Hopkins to the Spitbucket Podcast about a potential fight between Ryan Garcia and Errol Spence Jr. next.

“Errol Spence, to me, is a threat to anybody and is definitely a good soap opera leading up to the action of fighting. It gives something to the fight that makes it personal.

“Personally, I say fight the best in the division for the most money and understand that you are Kingry and they make money by fighting you.

“If Spence is the one, which I believe if anybody if it ain’t Tank if it ain’t Spence and whoever else after that, those two I see at the top of the good chain. I absolutely agree with that. Anything else it to do to stay busy,” said Hopkins.
