Tyson Fury wants Manuel Charr next

By Jim Calfa: Tyson Fury says he wants Manuel Charr for his next fight after giving up on his fight against Anthony Joshua when he failed to sign the contract by his appointed 5:00 p.m. deadline today.

The 37-year-old Charr isn’t ranked in the top 15 by the WBC, so it’s unclear how the fight would be sanctioned by the World Boxing Council.

If all that matters is Charr (33-4, 19 KOs) being ranked in the top 20, Fury has got a winner, but it’s still a truly awful fight that will open him up to severe ridicule from fans.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren is still working on putting the fight together with Joshua, as is Eddie Hearn. What happens if the two are able to get Joshua to sign the contract for the fight in the next day or two?

Does Fury still stubbornly insist on fighting Charr, or does he take the mature approach and face Joshua on December 3rd? It would be interesting if Fury sticks to his guns and childishly rejects the Joshua fight because he failed to sign by his 5 pm deadline today. That would be a sign of a person whose ego has gotten out of place.

“Deadline is up, suckers,” said Tyson Fury on social media. “If I give a sucker a chance at the big time, I expect them to sign when told to. Nuff said. It’s a pity AJ has got no balls.”

“There were various positive calls today between promoters and broadcasters who are all working hard to finalize the fight,” said Eddie Hearn about efforts to make the Joshua vs. Fury fight.

“There has been no talk of a deadline between the parties, but we are moving at pace to try and conclude the deal.”

“He’s got to be patient for a couple of more days,” said Gareth A. Davies to iFL TV about Fury. “Is Anthony Joshua holding back? Will they get the devil in the details sorted out between the lines in the contract? We don’t know yet.

“Hearn said on Sunday that they weren’t going to get the contract over the line by today, but he did say they’re working on it. We don’t want to see Tyson Fury fight Manuel Charr and Anthony Joshua disappear to fight someone else.

“If it’s Joshua-Fury, it’s going to sell out anyway. If it’s Manuel Charr, they need to get that fight on the road. It’s not a fight that I want to see.  A treading water fight for Tyson Fury. He handles Manuel Charr so easily. It’s not really what we want to see.

“We hope they get it over the line in the next 24, 48, or 72 hours because they do need to get it over the line by this week,” said Davies.
