Tyson Fury will likely KO Klitschko, says trainer

fury55By Scott Gilfoid: If there’s going to be a knockout in the October 24th clash between the giant heavyweights IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) and Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs), it’s assumed that it’ll be Wladimir doing the knockout when these guys start dropping bombs on each other three months from now at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Wladimir is the much bigger puncher with either hand, and the guy with the faster hand speed, even now at 39-years-old. But interestingly enough, Fury’s trainer Peter Fury believes that it’s going to be his fighter Tyson Fury who will be the one scoring the knockout in this fight.

Fury isn’t a knockout puncher even though he has 18 KOs on his resume. I hope his trainer Peter Fury doesn’t get things twisted thinking that Fury is capable of scoring a knockout in this fight because if he tries to slug with Wladimir, he’s going to wind up on the canvas.

Fury’s only chance of winning this fight is by outworking Wladimir to a decision, which isn’t going to be easy given that the fight is taking place in Germany. It would be in Fury’s best interest to try and score a knockout in this fight, because if it goes to the cards, he’s likely going to wind up on the short end of the stick. But if Fury opens himself up trying to get a knockout in this fight, he’s going to get destroyed quickly in this fight just like Kubrat Pulev did. In fact, I see Fury as not as good as Pulev in terms of his jab, power and defensive skills.

“Yes, a stoppage is likely, however, we do not care how it comes as long as we get the win,” Peter Fury said to Fighthype.com. “This is 50/50 for both men and both will go places they haven’t seen before. Wladimir will assess all of Tyson’s previous fights and analyze every detail. It’s up to him to come out as he pleases. It’s what we’re going to do that most interests me.”

Wladimir is going to know exactly what to do by the time he gets inside the ring with Fury. He’ll have studied all of Fury’s fights, and will know how to take apart Fury to either get a knockout or a decision win. It’s not going to be complicated for Wladimir because Fury’s style is really simplistic. He throws a lot of slapping punches and he changes from orthodox to southpaw back and forth whether he needs to or not. Fury won’t have any advantage if he changes to southpaw, so he might as well not waste his time. I could easily see Fury getting knocked cold while in the middle of changing stances. That would be really embarrassing for Fury and unfortunate.
