1-MAYPAC WEIGH IN-TRAPPFOTOS-5077By Chris Williams: After agreeing to the 60-40 split of the revenue with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to make the “Fight of the Century” a reality, Manny Pacquiao reportedly isn’t happy with the purse split that he got for the fight, according to his trainer Freddie Roach.

Roach says that Pacquiao isn’t pleased with his purse split, and that he doesn’t like Mayweather. Big question is why did Pacquiao sign the contract for tonight’s fight against Mayweather if he wasn’t happy with the purse split?

Pacquiao could have said no and continued to fight his promoter Bob Arum’s Top Rank stable fighters like Brandon Rios and Tim Bradley over and over again.

The other question is why Pacquiao didn’t sign the contract with Mayweather in 2010 when they both attempted to negotiate a fight with one another. Mayweather had agreed to a 50-50 purse split for the fight, but Pacquiao couldn’t agree on the random blood testing that Mayweather wanted for the fight.

“He’s [Pacquiao] not that happy with his purse that much,” Roach said about Pacquiao’s displeasure with his 60/40 purse split for tonight’s fight. “He really doesn’t like this guy [Mayweather]. The ring will be cut off [by Pacquiao], and we will throw a lot of punches. If he [Mayweather] throws that long jab to the body, he will be knocked out.”

Pacquiao is going to make a potential $100 to $120 million for tonight’s fight against Mayweather, and now he’s not happy with the money? If Pacquiao had fought one of the guys that Arum had dug up for him like Rios, he would have had to settle for a lot less than what he’s getting for the Mayweather fight. Pacquiao should be pleased with the money he’s getting for tonight’s fight against Mayweather because it could have been much less if he decided to dig his heels into the sand and refuse to sign the contract unless he got a bigger percentage cut.

From Mayweather’s standpoint, you can understand why he felt that Pacquiao wasn’t worthy of a 50-50 purse split. After all, Pacquiao’s record in his last five fights was 3-2. Further, Pacquiao’s pay-per-view numbers for his last three fights against Chris Algieri, Tim Bradley and Brandon Rios had shown deteriorating figures.

How do you expect Mayweather to cave in on giving Pacquiao a 50-50 split of the revenue when he’s only got a 3-2 record in his last five fights, and his PPV numbers are clearly tanking. What makes it even worse is that Pacquiao was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012, a fighter that Mayweather easily beat in 2009 by a one-sided 12 round decision.
