Is Adrien Broner severely overrated and arrogant?

broner#1By AJ Betancourt: WBC Lightweight Champion and WBA Welterweight Champion Adrien “The problem” Broner is one of Golden Boy boxing’s rising cash cow along with Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez. Broner is a 3 division world champion and rated as the #6 P4P boxer in the world by The Ring magazine.

Broner’s beaten the likes of Ponce De Leon, Antonio Demarco, Gavin Rees and most recently Malignaggi by split decision. Like me many others have noticed Broner’s attitude and how mimics someone we all know. Yes, Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is Adrien Broner’s “older brother” and idol.

Broner tries too hard to be like his idol and it makes him very arrogant and I’m sure we can all agree he’s the next most hated boxer in the world. And the reason I say he tries to hard is the way he talks about other fighters and his personality in which he doesn’t have one.

Floyd Mayweather Jr has always shown respect to his opponents before the hype began and after the fight ended. But his little bro Broner does not, saying he’s gonna f***up Maidana, Matthysse, Guerrero and others. I personally think this kid is pure arrogance at its best and he shows poor sportsmanship. He’s not even close enough to be talking like the way he is and isn’t even a huge star yet. And not only is very arrogant, annoying and a loud mouth he’s severely overrated as a fighter.

In my opinion Ponce De Leon beat him by unanimous victory and the Malignaggi fight could have been a draw. Both fighters made “Boxing’s future super star” look bad and  gave him trouble. For the first 5 rounds of the Malignaggi fight Broner looked lost and didn’t know when to throw a punch and when he did he often missed. Then we’d just see him trying to imitate Money May’s fighting style.

Ponce De Leon was gonna be “easy work” for Broner and Adrien even made fun of the way he fights. Yet De Leon schooled him and won that fight but of course Judges saw the “rising” star winning. Now since Broner is “The Next Mayweather” which he is not, not even close and never will be, he’s rumored to headline a PPV card November 9th. But it’s too early Broner hasn’t impressed me or many at all. And I can guarantee he’s not gonna be undefeated for long, now that he’s stepped in the Welterweight division with fighters who’ll end that record with an 0 quickly. Fighters who could do it?

Maidana, Matthysse (If he decides to move up), Guerrero, hell maybe even Victor Ortiz and most definitely Floyd Mayweather would annihilate him. It was very hilarious when Broner had the nerve to state “I don’t wanna hand Mayweather his first loss”. But it’s not likely they’ll fight but we already know who’d win.
