malignaggi46By Eric Thomas: WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) isn’t known for having big power or even good power, but he still plans on trying to KO challenger Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) this Saturday night on June 22nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Malignaggi hasn’t had a lot of knockouts during his 12-year pro career, but every once in a while he’s able to surprise his opponents by showing enough power to get a stoppage. It’s not likely that Malignaggi will be able to get the 23-year-old Broner out of there this Saturday night unless Malignaggi is able to puff up one of Broner’s eyes or cut him to the point where the fight needs to be stopped by Broner’s corner or the ringside doctor. Malignaggi was able to stop former WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko after swelling up his left eye.

Malignaggi said on his twitter: “All I got to say is JUNE 22nd, it’s past Adriana curfew! I’m bringing the matching bed frame. It’s past his bed time. I wanna make sure he is comfortable when i tuck him in. Adriana said I’m bringing “pillows” to the fight? He also forgot to mention m bringing the mattress and matching blankets.”

Broner has been making fun of Malignaggi’s lack of power, and it looks like Malignaggi decided to hit back at him with this twitter comment.

The fact of the matter is Malignaggi has enough power in his jab to give Broner a lot of problems in this fight. Malignaggi doesn’t need a lot of power as long as he’s able to stick that jab in Broner’s face constantly through 12 rounds. The sport is boxing and Malignaggi has been able to succeed throughout his career despite having little in the way of power. He could very well succeed in this fight even without a big punch. Broner shouldn’t overlook him because he could be sorry if he does.
