Manny Pacquiao would still beat Floyd Mayweather

pac6By Mark Calooke: A few weeks have passed since Juan Manuel Marquez spectacularly knocked out Manny Pacquiao after 6 brutal rounds. It was the only definitive victory from their four fights. since then I have noticed that people have mixed opinions. Some think the world’s only ever 8 weight world champion is finished and should retire. His Mother and Wife naturally share that view. Others think this changes nothing. And that Pacquiao is still the world best fighter and got caught by a lucky punch.

I agree with the latter. Many regard Floyd Mayweather as an elite fighter. And I still think Pacquiao beats him. I think Mayweather would dominate the fight with counter punches but would lack the power to hurt the fighting congressman. Eventually Pacquiao will land a shot and Mayweather won’t be able to handle the power.

A bold claim I know. But who remembers Floyd Mayweather vs Shane Mosley. keep in mind that Sugar Shane was old by then. Mayweather was rocked and badly hurt early on. he was forced to grab and hold himself up. Mosley doesn’t hit as fast or as hard as Pacquiao.

Mayweather fans always talk about their mans unbeaten record, which I find amusing, considering i have seen Mayweather beaten. One of the judges as well as alot of boxing experts felt Oscar De La Hoya beat Mayweather. Jose Luis Castillo clearly beat Mayweather. I didn’t hear a single expert say otherwise. The judges were the only ones that felt Mayweather won that fight. Some of Floyd’s own family felt he lost. This happened in 2002 but most Mayweather fans have only been watching him since 2008. Long time fans will remember this fight. So Mayweather’s real record is 41-2.

I know Mayweather is a counter puncher and so is Marquez. But Marquez isn’t worried about being hit, Mayweather is. Marquez also throws a lot of combinations. Mayweather throws a lot of single shots. And of course Mayweather lacks the power that Marquez possesses. Mayweather is a great fight. But he isn’t unbeaten and he wouldn’t beat Pacquiao
