Ricky Burns didn’t duck Adrien Broner

Image: Ricky Burns didn't duck Adrien BronerBy Steven Ocallaghan: Adrien Broner’s dad recently mentioned in an interview at Fighthype how he believes that WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns has been running from Broner, and that he sees Burns continuing to do this in the future. The fact of the matter is Burns couldn’t make 130lbs so moved up last year rather than fighting Broner.

Broner himself couldn’t make the limit in his last fight against Vincente Escobedo last July, not once but twice but insisted that he was super featherweight.

Let’s see if Broner makes the weight in his challenge for a world title on November 17th against WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco or will Broner just give away a few dollars to still make the fight happen?

Burns is a true and honest pro. He moved up in weight, not because he was scared of Broner but because he couldn’t and wouldn’t hit the super feather limit anymore.

If both Broner and Burns win their next fights a unification bout should happen and I for one will look forward to watching the highly underrated Scot ram the highly overrated Broner and his old man’s words down their throat.

Plenty of boxing bloggers can’t seem to accept that America is no longer a boxing super power and are intent in trying to undermine every other boxer, especially a British boxer as being lucky, or a cheat. Accept it and Burns will KO the Floyd wannabe and hopefully that I’ll be the last that will be seen and heard from the Broners.
