Image: Timothy Bradley vs. Lamont Peterson IIBy Will Jackson Jr: Current WBO Welterweight king Timothy Bradley, 29, will face Lamont Peterson on the 15th of December 2012 at Marlins Park, Florida. This fight is a defence of Bradley’s WBO Welterweight title. This therefore gives Peterson the opportunity to become a 2 weight world champion.

This is a very interesting match up as both are former Light Welterweights. They were also very close friends but they have also met before at Light Welterweight. Bradley was the one who gave Peterson his first and only loss, back in 2009.

I predict this will be a very good fight. It will be as tactical as the first fight but with a lot more brawling at times. I see Peterson trying to box Bradley but when he realises that isn’t working he will go back to his tactics that he used in the Khan fight. I also think that Peterson will move more in order to try and play on Bradley’s injured foot.

This is the interesting thing, to see how both men will fair. Will the controversy from the Khan fight effect Peterson mentally? Also would have Bradley’s injured foot have healed properly? These are all the questions that remain to be answered until the 2 men step inside the ring again.

In my opinion Bradley will easily fight through any pain that occurs during the fight. I also see this as a harder win than the first fight for Bradley. I think this because I think Bradley has developed better boxing skill since the last fight while Peterson has not. Peterson has relied on being more aggressive and as a result he has taken more shots.

This is why I see this fight being very close, but a sort of tactical brawl. Even though I see Bradley as just edging it I can also see Peterson getting on the inside of Bradley with uppercuts like he did Amir Khan. This is because Bradley stands very low while keeping his chin tucked down with an original style guard. What are your thoughts on this fight?

Prediction: Bradley but it will be a very close fight
