Image: Barry Awad "Kid Galahad" Avoided Champion, James Degale Comeback and Chris Eubank JnrBy Clinton Hudson: Barry Awad 12 (5)- 0 AKA “Kid Galahad” of Sheffield City UK, is fighting this Saturday on the (13/10/2012) on Channel 5’s terrestrial TV channel, on a Hennessy promotion. He currently holds the WBC International Super Bantamweight title and fights out of the world famous Ingle gym.

The Ingle camp has produced many champions such as Prince Naseem Hamed, Johnny Nelson and Bomber Graham amongst many others under the guidance of the legend, Brendan Ingle. The 22 year old is ranked 4th in the UK behind Rendall Munroe, Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton but would give either of those a very stern wake up call.

I watch Ringside on Sky Sports (UK) religiously and when either Scott Quigg, Rendall Munroe or Carl Frampton’s names are mentioned, Kid Galahad rarely is! He would give anyone of these fighters many problems and has apparently been turned down for fights on numerous occasions by all of the above.

Is this the curse of the Ingle system of fighting, due to its unorthodox ways, boxing politics or are these fighters scared to take the challenge!?

We have seen this on many occasions when Herol ‘Bomber’ Graham was avoided like the plague and even Chris Eubank Snr at the time they were active was quoted as saying that he would never have fought him. Also Junior Witter with Ricky Hatton, Hatton using the excuse that Junior Witter did not sell tickets, but Hatton fought many other fighters who did not sell tickets and were NOT a WBC belt holder like Junior Witter.

HOPEFULLY history will NOT repeat itself with this Wonder kid “Kid Galahad”.

If you want to see more of this fighter tune in to channel 5 on Saturday at 10pm when he will take the stage versus Andras Vargas 6 (2) -2 -2 of Hungary. Also on the bill is ring rusty GB Olympic Gold Medalist James Degale (European Champion) of London, UK 12 (9) – 1 Vs Hadillah Mouhamadi of France 13(9) -2 -1. It will be interesting to see James Degale back in action as he has not fought in almost half a year. He has unbelievable talent and has been brought along at quite a quick rate until his recent bout in April when he defeated the challenger Christian Sanavia to retain his EBU strap. He has now changed promotors, leaving Frank Warren promotions (Box Nation) and fights for Hennessy Sports and should now fight regularly on Channel 5 TV, UK, which will also build his popularity and gain the casual boxing fans backing for more desirable fights.

Lastly on the bill is Chris Eubank Junior of Hove, UK 6 (3) – 0 Vs Ruslans Pojonisevs of Latvia 13 (10) – 22 (5) – 1 this is another test to see what the youngster has in his arsenal to prepare him for future fights and is sure to be a banger, as Eubank Junior likes to mix it up, shows great potential and throws some solid shots. I would like to see him come into his own and develop a unique style that he can call his own but I think this will happen once he is established and gained some pro experience. He has been tested early in his career and all of his opponents have had a lot more fights than he has, so in time we should see a brilliant champion that his father would be proud of.
