It wasn’t enough that the 24-year-old Garcia totally out-boxed a stiff and slow Morales last March in a one-sided 12 round unanimous victory in Houston, Texas, but now boxing fans have to see the same mismatch for a second time.

The reason for this is because Morales had a rematch clause in his contract, so we’re seeing Morales and Garcia fight again despite how one-sided a fight it last time they fought. Morales really should know better than to take on Garcia again, because he was completely dominated the last time and looked really old in losing that fight. But you can kind of understand why Morales might be doing this. After all, he’s getting a good payday out of the fight because Garcia is the WBA/WBC light welterweight champion, and that’s a definite plus for Morales. It isn’t like Morales can get a title shot right now against any of the other light welterweight champs.

They’re not going to fight him now because there’s no reason so. Morales has lost two out of his last three fights and looks like a mere shell of what he once was 12 years ago. He was a great fighter when he was young fighting his epic battles with a young Marco Antonio Barrera. However, those fights were a long time ago, and it’s a credit to Morales that he was able to come back after being retired for three years, and then move up in weight to the light welterweight division and still be one of the best fighters in the division. That says a lot about Morales’ talent. However, he’s not as good as the younger Garcia and he’s definitely going to lose this fight quite badly unless he can find some of his lost youth.

Garcia is coming off arguably the best win of his career in stopping former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan in the 4th round last July. Garcia knocked Khan down with a left hand then put him down twice more before the fight was eventually halted in the 4th. That was a big, big win for Garcia’s career.
