Khan is pleased with his training feels he’s gotten stronger. Of course, he always says stuff like this and he hasn’t exactly been knocking everyone out lately.

Khan said in blog at amirkhanworld.com “Freddie [Roach] is really pleased with the way sparring has gone and even I’m a bit surprised by the power in my shots because I know I have the ability to hurt Garcia.”

Khan could in theory hurt Garcia with some of his shots if he would show some bravery and sit down on his shots. However, Khan seems to have lost a lot of interest in doing that ever since he was knocked out in one round by Breidis Prescott in 2008 when Khan decided to throw power shots. Ever since then, we’ve seen Khan on his bicycle in constant movement trying not to get hit. His promoters put him in with a light puncher in Lamont Peterson in his last fight in what was supposed to have been a safe fight for Khan.

However, when Khan tried to stop and slug with Peterson in the 4th round, he took some heavy shots and then started running. Khan would continue to run the remainder of the fight. He’s now fighting Danny Garcia, fighter who actually has some power. Khan’s supposed improvement in power will be useless for him because in order to use that power he’s going to have to be willing to get hit hard by Garcia. He’s not going to knock this guy out with one punch.

Garcia is going to be able to land his big shot too each time Khan loads up with anything. If Khan’s weak chin can’t handle it, we’ll see Khan sparked out on July 14th, and yeah, we’ll probably get a lot of excuses out of it along with the obligatory investigation.
