Broner came in at 143.5 instead of the 140 that Escobedo’s camp wanted him to. As such, the fight possibly will be called off.

ATo be honest this seems rather silly if you ask me because 143.5 is only 13.5 pounds over the 130 pound weight limit for the super featherweight division. If they’re going to make a big production out of 13 pounds than that tells me that didn’t want the fight bad enough in the first place. Escobedo is going to be in WAY over his head in this fight whether Broner came in at 130 or 143.5.

The talent between the two fighters are huge. The two are worlds apart in talent, but if Escobedo backs out now he can spare himself a beating and has a good excuse for not taking the fight. It’s really sad, though. If they’re going to make a big deal about Broner coming in 13 pounds over the limit then what about WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who routinely walks into the ring 20 pounds over the 160 pound weight limit after rehydrating. That’s a huge difference because Chavez Jr. is effectively a cruiserweight when he enters the ring. If Chavez Jr. is able to get away with coming in over 20 pounds over the limit then Broner should be able to come in heavy as well, especially if it’s only a mere 13.5 pounds. It’s only fair.
