Pacquiao, who is meeting with his promoter Bob Arum today in the Philippines, is expected to make a selection about his next opponent in the next 48 hours.

Mayweather said on his twitter “I’m ready to put my belt up. What about you Mann Pacquiao? Let’s make history.”

Okay, that’s sounds great but let’s be real here; it’s not going to happen unless Pacquiao wants the fight to happen. Just yesterday, Arum came with his solution to the problem, asking Mayweather to fight on June 9th instead of May 5th. Arum wants Mayweather to run back to court and meet with the judge and ask for another delay in his 90 jail sentence.

If anyone knows anything about the justice system, that’s pretty much unheard of. Mayweather was incredibly lucky to get this delay from the judge, but he’s likely not going to get another one. And even if he did, I can see some other games from Arum where he puts the fight off even further into the future.

Mayweather isn’t going to go through the time and trouble to get a second delay if he has no faith in Arum. He’ll end up looking silly when if an when Arum tells him that Pacquiao can’t fight on June 9th because his cut needs another month or two to heal. Arum thinks Pacquiao needs seven months for the cut he suffered in the Juan Manuel Marquez fight to heal.

At the end of the day, if Pacquiao wants the fight with Mayweather it will happen on May 5th. If he’s not serious and comes up with excuses like a needing more time, then you have to figure he doesn’t want to get spanked.
