Image: Arum could ask judge to delay Mayweather's jail sentence for Pacquiao boutBy Chris Williams: Bob Arum reportedly is considering trying to meet with Las Vegas judge Melissa Saragossa to see if he can get Floyd Mayweather’s 90-day jail term to start at a later date so that Arum can match his fighter Manny Pacquiao up with Mayweather for a bout that would take place sometime in June, according to the Manila Standard.

Arum feels that the judge, who already gave Mayweather one delay by pushing back his January 6th jail starting term to June 1st, will do this once again to accommodate the huge mega fight which will be a huge benefit to the Las Vegas economy.

There are a few problems with. Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach is talking about wanting the fight to take place at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas or in Dubai in order to maximize the amount of profit that Pacquiao, Arum and Mayweather can take in. However, the judge would be giving Mayweather an extension with the thought that the fight will be taking place in Vegas. If Arum turns around and takes the fight to Dubai or Texas, it would be pretty much making a mockery of what the judge did for Mayweather.

Supposedly there are a ton of Filipinos living in the United Arab Emirates, as much as a half million, according to writer Ronnie Nathanielsz. From this number the Pacquiao-Mayweather tickets would be mostly sold to you would have to assume.

Would Mayweather go for that? If he’s fighting in front of huge crowd almost entirely made up of Filipinos living in the UAE, won’t that make him feel kind of strange? I wouldn’t go for it. The fight needs to be held in the U.S or not at all, and Roach can probably forget about the Texas pipe dream because if the Vegas judge gives Mayweather another extension it will be with the belief that his fight will be helping the Las Vegas economy, not the Arlington economy in Texas. There’s so much greed here.
