But he’s going to have to wait a while for Mayweather to fight WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) on Saturday and then perhaps one or two more fighters before Mayweather turns his attention to Khan.

As for this Saturday’s fight between Mayweather and Ortiz, Khan has his own opinion on the fight, and believes Mayweather wins it easily.

“I think it will be one-sided and I can see Ortiz either quitting on his stool or the fight being stopped around the 9th or 10th round.”

Khan obviously doesn’t want Mayweather to lose because he’s hoping so bad to get a fight with him. If Ortiz beats Mayweather, then it will mean an immediate rematch between the two, while Khan has to sit and wait. A fight between Khan and Ortiz won’t be a big deal, because Khan isn’t a star in the U.S and has been fighting only guys like Zab Judah, Paulie Malignaggi and weak punchers like Paul McCloskey and Andriy Kotelnik.

The one good fight that Khan had recently was against Marcos Maidana, who had Khan out on his feet in the 10th round and battered in the last three rounds. Khan looked horrible in that fight and hasn’t been interested in fighting Maidana again. Khan has been in with two weak punchers since then and is looking to fight another soft puncher in Lamont Peterson in December.

Ortiz, 24, doesn’t have a lot of experience and seems to have been hand picked by Mayweather because he saw a flaw in Ortiz’s game that he thinks he can exploit. One thing that Ortiz is vulnerable to is left hooks. The way he comes forward all the time while leaning in, he’s wide open for Mayweather’s check left hook. We may see an early knockout if Ortiz doesn’t put his gloves up to protect himself when coming forward. He can’t get away with fighting sloppy against a skilled fighter like Mayweather.
