Will Froch be humiliated by Ward?

Image: Will Froch be humiliated by Ward?By Scott Gilfoid: If I was to read the tea leaves for the October 29th Super Six tournament finals bout, I would have to say that I see WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s) not only losing to the talented WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s), but losing so badly that there’s a certain amount of humiliation that Froch may suffer in the process. It’s never good to get beaten black and blue in front of the entire world, but it’s going to be worse in that it’s going to be a one-sided fight.

What it is it that makes Ward so good that he can turn relatively good fighters and make apes out of them? Time and time again, Ward whips his opponents to the point where they look like 1st class novices without an ounce of talent in their bodies. It doesn’t matter who it is, Ward is able to reduce his opponents to this stage. Froch is supposed to be different some boxing fans say, because he’s got heart, they say, and power. I wish I could drink the kool-aid and fall in lock step behind them to believe this, but I can’t. I see Froch as being the same as Ward’s other opponents, but maybe even more vulnerable because of his lack of hand speed and boxing ability.

I mean look, Froch was dominated by Mikkek Kessler last year in a 12 round decision. And Ward in turn easily beat Kessler. Now what does that tell you? It tells me that on October 29th, we’re going to see a slaughter of the first order. It’s not going to be pretty seeing Froch take hit after hit, round after round. Thank god, the fight is taking place in the U.S and not elsewhere in the world. I expect the referee to do the right right thing by pulling the plug on the fight when it gets too far out of hand with Froch taking a terrible beating. I don’t want to see the old guy hurt. It’s a sport after all.
