The win appears to have knocked some ideas into Mitchell’s head, making him think it’s a idea to fight Katsidis again. I think it’s a terrible idea. I suppose this is the best time for a rematch given that Katsidis has lost two out of his last three fights since then. What better time to fight Katsidis than now after he absorbed two horrible beatings against Juan Manuel Marquez and Robert Guerrero.

In theory, Katsidis could be depleted enough to where Mitchell might stand a better chance this time around. Personally, I don’t see the outcome being any different than last time. Katsidis is too good and Mitchell is too limited for the fight to be any different. But I’d like to see it just the same. Katsidis looked like a major talent in destroying Michael Lozada last weekend in a 3rd round TKO.

It’s hard to believe, but Katsidis seems to have improved even after losing two of his last three fights. He’s throwing more to the body now and getting hit less. The guy is incredible the way he can rebuild after losses and learn from them. I wish I could say the same for Mitchell. I saw a lot of the same flaws in his game against Murray that he showed in his loss to Katsidis.

Mitchell still gets hit a lot and cleanly. That’s okay when he’s fighting a slow as molasses fighter like Murray, but if he gets hit cleanly over and over again by Katsidis, it’s going to be another early night for Mitchell. I still can’t shake the memory of Mitchell turning his back on Katsidis in the third round last year when Katsidis was really giving it to him. That was unbelievable from a fighter with as many pro fights as Mitchell. All I can say is he must have lost his senses completely after getting hurt by Katsidis.
