McKenna (McJack): In the ongoing defamation lawsuit filed by Manny Pacquiao’s attorneys against Floyd Mayweather Jr,, Floyd continues to make excuses as to why he can’t take the deposition ordered by the Court. As a matter of fact he has made as many excuses not to take the deposition as he has made excuses not to fight Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather failed to appear in Court for a deposition regarding the defamation lawsuit. Floyd used the excuse that he was preparing for his September 17 fight with Victor Ortiz and that his training schedule would not permit the time required to take the deposition. Mayweather’s attorneys asked for a postponement until after his September 17 fight with Victor Ortiz. The judge in the case denied the request for a postponement. The scheduled June 17 deposition was exactly three months away from the Mayweather – Ortiz fight.

The Ortiz fight is Mayweather’s favorite excuse to avoid going to Court. Mayweather has also accused Pacquiao of interfering with his training regimen. However, the facts do not support Floyd’s claims that he is too busy training to take the deposition.

Manny Pacquiao’s high powered attorney Dan Petrocelli is known for playing hard ball in the cases he is involved with. Petrocelli has put together a time line for Mayweather’s activities including photos which show him socializing at parties in Atlanta and Las Vegas on dates which he said he would not be able to give the deposition. One of the dates was a birthday party for Floyd’s close friend rapper 50 Cent. There were also numerous other parties Floyd attended on dates that were submitted to him for the deposition.

In an interview with the Associated Press Petrocelli said “Floyd Mayweather Jr. may be 41-0 in the boxing ring but he is not above the law. Mayweather deliberately defied a Court order to appear at deposition. To justify his conduct and his categorical refusal to appear at any of the 24 dates offered him by Manny Pacquiao Mayweather represented to the Court that he was in the throes of training camp so consuming that he could not, under any circumstances appear at deposition before the end of September. Mayweather went so far as to accuse Pacquiao of harassment saying, as a boxer himself Pacquiao should know how elite fighters must avoid all distractions in the lead up to a fight.”

Petrocelli further alleges that the attacks on Pacquiao continue. Mayweather was recently filmed at a gym bragging that unlike Pacquiao his fighters are all natural. And Floyd’s uncle Roger Mayweather recently made a statement to the press that he knew Manny was on steroids because someone from the Pacquiao camp told him so.

If Manny Pacquiao and his attorney Dan Petrocelli are awarded the Default Judgment by the Court Manny will be entitled to a significant amount of money which would include the legal fees he has incurred. Petrocelli has done his homework well by documenting all his allegations. What makes this case so difficult for Mayweather to wriggle out of is that Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions who were originally named in the suit settled and delivered a written and public apology to Manny Pacquiao. In essence that leaves Floyd “Money” Mayweather all alone twisting in the wind.
