Katsidis, 30, wants to take on Morales for the World Boxing Council (WBC) light welterweight title, provided that Morales can beat Argentinian Lucas Matthysse in their fight on September 17th for the vacant WBC title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A fight between Morales and Katsidis would be guaranteed crowd pleasing fight, as Morales has always thrived in taking on sluggers like Katsidis. It would be a fight that would draw a lot of interest in the U.S or in Katsidis’ home country of Australia.

Katsidis moved up in weight from the lightweight division in his fight against Lozada at light welterweight. It was an experimental fight for Katsidis to see how well he competes against the bigger 140 pounders. He did excellent in the fight, showing more power than he had at lightweight.

The big advantage for Katsidis is that he doesn’t have to drain himself to make the 140 pound weight limit like he did in getting down to 135. This leaves him with more power to punch, which he showed in the Lozada fight by blasting him out with some vicious body punching.

The one thing that stands in Katsidis’ way in landing a fight against Morales is Mattysse. Morales has really got his work cut out for him against the powerful Mattysse, because he’s like a better version of Marcos Maidana. Morales was recently beaten by Maidana last April in a 12 round decision.
