This is likely Froch spouting hot air because I’ve seen this tactic used time and again with fighters trying to drum up interest in their fights. I figured Froch would reduce himself to this level for a fight that really doesn’t need these kinds of comments to get boxing fans excited about it.

Froch said this in an article at fightnews.com: “I’ll bet my purse against his [Ward].” Ward in turn stayed level headed about Froch’s purse comment, saying “He’s great for one-liners.”

In other words, Ward doesn’t take Froch serious and sees it for what it is – a publicity stunt. However, if Froch is indeed serious, it would be great for Ward to double his money on October 29th. I doubt Showtime would go along with this and would likely step in immediately and have issues with it. However, if would make the fight a lot more interesting if the purse was on the line because it be great to see Ward go home with a huge payday. I mean he’s getting payed really well as it is, but getting double would be so much better.

For Froch, it would be a long gloomy plane ride back to Nottingham, England, coming home literally empty-handed without his WBC belt, without the Super Six trophy and without the money.
