By Scott Gilfoid: Someone wake WBC super middleweight belt holder Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s) because I think he’s dreaming again. Froch faces WBA super middleweight champion in a unification bout on October 29th in the Super Six finals.

Froch thinks he’s going to hurt Ward. He doesn’t necessarily think he’ll knock him out, but believes he’s going to put a hurting on him. I think Froch is deluded. He’s not going to hurt Ward at all, because he’s not going to be landing many of his painfully slow shots in this fight.

Froch said this to Sky Sports News: “I’m going to put pressure on him. I am going to hit him [Ward] hard and often. I raised the question at the presser that he can’t punch…I have got punching power and that’s getting inside his head. He knows that and he’s trying to counter that with his rubbish about it’s about knocking people out at the top level it’s not; it’s about hitting people and hurting them and that’s what I do. Andre Ward doesn’t hurt anybody when he hits them.”

It sounds so sad the way that Froch is dreaming. I can’t help but to think of David Haye everything I see Froch giving some of his lip. Froch won’t he hurting Ward unless it’s by hitting and holding. That’s about it. Maybe if Froch can land some mean rabbit shots during a clinch, then, yeah, I can see him hurting Ward under those circumstances. But I don’t see Froch getting away with 1/10th of the fouls he got away with in his fight against Andre Dirrell in 2009. If you think the Abner Mares vs. Joseph Agbeko fight had a lot of fouling, then try watching Froch go wild on Dirrell. At one point Froch even body slammed Dirrell with the referee just standing there doing nothing. I saw lot of rabbit shots and holding and hitting from Froch. Again, non penalization’s called by the referee.

I think Froch is too confident for his own good. God, he reminds me of Haye. This is going to be sad when he gets schooled by Ward. I just hope Froch doesn’t disappear off the radar like Haye’s done after he gets whipped.
