Groves, 23, is rumored to be leaving Hayemaker promotions and signing with Matchroom sport, the same promoters that manage Carl Froch.

Groves has done zero since beating British super middleweight champion James DeGale last May in a 12 round majority decision. It was thought that Groves would take this important win and capitalize on it by getting some big fights. This was one of the reasons why Groves opted not to agree to a rematch with DeGale, who badly wanted a second shot at fighting Groves again. Instead, Groves said that he’s moving on to bigger and better things. In hindsight, Groves may have been better off to take a money fight against DeGale then to just sit idly and waste time with his career.

DeGale is fighting for the European Boxing Union super middleweight title against Piotr Wilcewski in his next fight. It would be nice if Groves could find something close to that as possible. It would disappointing if Groves has to continue with fighting with the same lesser guys that he had been fighting going into the DeGale fight. Groves needs to progress and not go backwards with his career. Right now he’s just stagnating. Groves needs to pick off one of the bottom ranked world level contenders like Aaron Pryor Jr. or Edwin Rodriguez.
