Image: Chisora doesn't see anything in Fury that worries himBy Sean McDaniel: British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) may be the smaller man on July 23rd against the 6’9″ Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) when they meet up at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, UK. However, Chisora isn’t worried about anything that he sees from Fury and feels that he’ll be able to deal with anything he brings to the table in that fight.

“I really don’t see anything in Fury that concerns me too greatly,” Chisora said to Sky Sports News. “I see this as a similar fight to Gary Mason vs. Jesse Harding, another similar heavyweight who stood bolt upright and got punished for it.”

Fury has had his way with the limited opposition that he’s been put in with thus far in his three year pro career. He did face one good opponent John McDermott but failed to shine in either of his two fights with him. That’s worrisome because Chisora is considered to be a better fighter and a lot better offensive-minded guy that McDermott. Fury struggled with the offense of McDermott and perhaps the only reason Fury was able to beat McDermott in their two fights is that McDermott quickly ran out of gas by the midpoint of the fight. I think it’s save to say that Chisora won’t be running out of gas against Fury, and that could make things very tough for the tall Fury. He’ll have to sink or swim in this fight. Fury has stamina problems of his own and he could be the one running out of gas in this fight.

Chisora, 27, is considered by many boxing fans to be the 2nd best heavyweight in the UK as of now. That may change in the near future with the development of David Price, but for now, Chisora is considered to be the next best fighter after WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. Fury, 23, is someone ranked a little lower, behind Price. Fury has potential to be the number #1 guy because of his size but right now his lack of hand speed, power and boxing skills are going to keep him from moving up.
