How would Froch have done against Hopkins and Pascal?

By Scott Gilfoid: I think we were seeing pure magnificence on Saturday night in the war between the talented Bernard Hopkins and WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal. Fittingly, there was no real winner in the fight, as it ended in a 12 round majority draw.

I’m okay with that score because these two marvels were canceling each other out due to their immense talent. However, I couldn’t help but wonder how these two would have done against World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch.

I fear that Hopkins and Pascal would have had far too much talent for the slow moving Froch, and I suspect they would dominate and perhaps even stop the British fighter in one-sided fights.

Hopkins vs. Froch: I think Hopkins would have an incredibly easy time against Froch and the reason I believe this is because of Hopkins superior inside fighting ability. He would have worked his way to the inside again and again, pounding Froch with power shots.

Since Froch has no real inside game, he would get his backside handed to him in no time flat. My worry here is the venue for the fight. If it were to take place in Nottingham, England, Hopkins might have to really go after Froch to try and score a knockout, because I can’t see Hopkins being able to win a decision in England, especially Nottingham where Froch lives.

Pascal vs. Froch: While Pascal may have lost a decision to Froch in 2008, Pascal has improved in many ways since then, whereas Froch has stayed the same fighter. As such, Pascal would give Froch a boxing lesson, catch him with a big shot and take him out or at least knock him down three to four times. If Pascal can knock down the steel-chinned Hopkins two times, he can surely do better than that against Froch.
