Peter, 29, has won three consecutive fights over journeyman caliber opposition since his back to back losses to Vital Klitschko and Eddie Chambers. Despite the losses, Peter is currently ranked at number #3 in the IBF and #10 in the WBC, easily within striking distance of both Klitschko brothers. Even better, Peter has lost 25 pounds since his 10 round majority decision loss to Chambers in March 2009.

The weight loss has helped Peter immensely, making him more agile and a lot more dangerous than he’s been in years. Last Saturday night, Peter looked impressive in taking out 363 pound Gabe Brown in the 4th round in Youngstown, Ohio. Peter looked really power, and a threat to any heavyweight in the division apart from Vitali Klitschko. Peter’s best bet for a title shot would be against Wladimir, who currently holds the IBF and WBO titles.

Peter has faced Wladimir previously, losing a 12 round decision in 2005, in a fight in which Peter dropped Wladimir three times. The fight was a back and forth bout with both fighters hurting each other with big shots. Wladimir stunned Peter with a powerful left hook in the 12th round that staggered him. Peter isn’t currently ranked in the WBA, which is too bad, because he would have an excellent chance of beating champion David Haye if he could connect with anything hard.

Peter was stopped by Vitali Klitschko in the 8th round in October 2008.
