By Liam Santiago: World Boxing Council super middleweight champion, Carl Froch has blasted WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan again for his childish outbursts against the Nottingham man. Froch says David Haye may have to sit between them tonight at the BBC Sports Personality of the year award. Froch said in an article with the Daily Star, ”It’s probably a good idea David Haye is sitting between us”. Haye, Froch and Khan will be at the award ceremony tonight as Britain’s three world champions.

Froch went on to say, ”I’m going to leave it up to him whether he wants to shake hands or not, but I would rather be his friend than enemy. I will ask him what’s going on with all these silly comments he has made and tell him to grow up. All I was doing was commenting on his fight against Breidis Prescott. He got knocked out, so what does he want me to say? And I had heard his fight against Andreas Kotelnik was boring. If he wants me to be his cheerleader, he’s not going to get it. My fight against Andre Dirrell was boring. That’s boxing and you deal with criticism. But if he’s going to start crying because I speak the truth then he’s being a bit childish”.

Froch will defend his WBC title against Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler on April 17th.

Gareth Williams: ”We have had no approaches from Khan”

At every given opportunity Amir Khan has publicly declared his interest in fighting Manchester warrior, Ricky Hatton. The Khan camp claim Hatton’s style is ‘made for Khan’ and so on. So, it surprised me to hear Hatton Promotions boss, Gareth Williams state that Khan’s promotional company has not made a single approach about making the fight. So why does Amir keep harping on about it?

Speaking to boxing news online, Williams said, ”I can categorically confirm that we’ve had no approaches from Amir’s promotional company. So I can’t see how we can have that fight and it seems pointless talking about it”.

Hatton recently declared his interest in a final bout, or a war, as he described it against Oscar De La Hoya.
