Has Briedis Prescott Been Given the Respect He Deserves?

khan63569By Liam Santiago: Briedis Prescott (21-0, 18ko’s) was thrown into the spotlight of boxing when he defeated unbeaten, British boxing icon, Amir Khan (20-1, 15ko’s) by a sensational 1st round knock-out. Any such victory over such a rated boxer as Khan would normally put the winner well up in the ratings. However, since this victory Prescott is still a widely un-appreciated boxer by many. Yet only two fights after his defeat to Prescott, Khan is preparing to challenge for a world title.

Prescott’s number one attraction is his power. With 18 ko’s out of 21, it looks as though we have a new Tyson on the cards. He also has great boxing ability, which he has displayed on the few occasions he has had to go the distance. The win over Khan was put down to Khan’s weakness’s rather than Prescott’s talents. This is very true to a certain extent, Khan has issues with his punch resistance and defence, but, it was Prescott’s talents that exposed it. It is so easy to say Khan was just caught cold, but all in all the best
man won.

Prescott’s next bout is against Edwin Valero (25-0, 25ko’s) on July 25th in Mexico. Edwin Valero, like Prescott,
is a huge pucher with a 100% knockout percentage. This will be an incredible fight, which is sure to end in a
knock-out, as both boxers could easily be labelled as the best pound for pound punchers in the world.

This next test for Precott will determine weather he really can go all the way in boxing, although he has already
proved to say many that he can. A rematch with Khan is sure to happen at some point and it should be now down to Prescott when and where it happens. In my opinion he has what it takes to go to the very top level in boxing. He is an exiting fighter, that has never been given the credit he deserves.
