Floyd Mayweather calls off Manny Pacquiao fight?

floyd64By Antonia Bufalino: In a recent incident that has fans riled up in anger, Floyd Mayweather Jr has posted a link to his twitter page (@floydmayweather) with the statement, “Thanks for setting the record straight, Alex Ariza.”

Alex Ariza, Mayweather’s strength and conditioning coach, was recently at Manny Pacquiao’s movie premiere for “Manny”. On the red carpet, he had a lot to say regarding the potential showdown. None of which was positive.

Via Fight Hype, “It’s not going to happen, let’s not kid ourselves. . . it’s sad, it’s deceptive, and it is straight lying what Bob Arum is doing. It’s revolting for fans to sit there and get their hopes up for something that doesn’t exist.”

Ariza continued with the tangent, placing all blame on Bob Arum and expressed as long as Arum is Pacquiao’s promoter, this fight will never happen.

By Floyd Mayweather backing up Alex Ariza’s statements, it asks the question, “So, there’s no fight?” However, Mayweather was interviewed on Shades45 a few days ago, and he expressed how he will make the fight happen for May 2nd, and that is his focus. He verified they were still negotiating, but he is trying his best to make it happen. So, why support Ariza’s statement of the fight “never existing”? It’s hard to believe anyone anymore with contradicting story’s from and within every side.

After Floyd Mayweather posted the link, the despair, frustration, and anger of the fans caught like a flame. Even though the video expressed how it isn’t Floyd’s fault, it appears the fans take it as another excuse. This was displayed by blowing up Floyd Mayweather’s social media sites with “#BoycottMayweather”.

Fans reached out to Los Angeles Times journalist, Lance Pugmire, pleading for information on if the fight is as “nonexistent” as Ariza claims.

@GGutana,”@latimespugmire so judging by Floyds tweet is the fight dead or is there hope.”

@latimespugmire, “@GGutana Ariza has hostile feelings for Arum after getting canned from Pacquiao camp, and Floyd never minds a good shot at Arum.”

@andrew77fields,”@latimespugmire @GGutana so your sources still say negotiations are continuing?”

@latimespugmire, “@andrew77fields @GGuntana yes.”

At this point, it’s hard to believe anyone with so many contradictions everywhere. Pacquiao says he’s signed a contract, but Showtime Executive Stephen Espinoza says, “What contract?” Mayweather says he will make the fight happen between them, but Ariza says it is nonexistent. Pacquiao says all Mayweather has to do is sign, but Mayweather says the two sides are still negotiating. The list goes on and on.

It’s a tiresome, endless routine. Unfortunately, the fans and sport are the ones who suffer. The situation is sad when it was the fans who made these fighters who they are today. Both fighters have worked and trained hard to win, but without the attention of the people, the reward would be subtle. Now, after giving the two fighters hundred millions of dollars, they simply ask to be repaid through 36 minutes of fighting each other. Unfortunately, that debt may never be repaid.
